Bob, his wife and daughter Beverley were shot and Muriel died later in hospital. Within days, the hunt for the murderer concentrated on one man - George Ince - who was identified by the surviving Patiences. He gave himself up, went through two murder trials, yet was finally acquitted. John Brook, a northener, was later convicted of the murder. Why was the wrong man charged?
