Eucalypts Volume 1 & 2 by Stan Kelly is a highly celebrated, definitive two-volume botanical illustration masterwork showcasing Australia's native eucalyptus trees. Originally published by Thomas Nelson between 1969 and 1978, the books feature over 500 meticulous water colour plates painted by Kelly over a spans of 32 years. The accompanying scientific text and habitat descriptions were written by renowned botanists G.M. Chippendale and R.D. Johnston. About the Creator & Impact Stan Kelly (1911-2001) was actually a Victorian Railways engine driver who cultivated a passionate hobby as a botanical artist. Local lore suggests he would frequently slow his train down or jump out into the bush along the tracks to collect plant specimens to bring home and paint. His watercolours became so deeply revered for their scientific precision that he was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 1980. Famously, his detailed illustrations were even selected to decorate the pages of the Australian.
