However, her findings and conclusions became controversial and in this work Derek Freeman. a NZ anthropolog…ist, sets out his reasons for concluding Mead made significant errors in her research and why Samoa was not the paradise of free love and goodwill that she presented. When first published by Harvard University Press in 1983 Freeman's book received wide publicity and was regarded as a important work on psychology and human behaviour. On this card cover edition of 1984. the covers and half-title carry the Pelican imprint, the title page that of Penguin. It contains an addendum to the author's preface to the original edition. 379 pages including notes, note on pronunciation, glossary, acknowledgements and index. six b/w photos, sketch, few graphs.
