Añadir al carritoCondición: Very Good. First Edition. Hardback. Small 8vo. Circa 40 unnumbered pp. Contemporary original limp red textured morocco, lettered and decorated in gilt; red marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. Inscribed to the authors son opposite the title page. It merely says 'Lewis Westbrook Hind' - presumably in the authors hand. A bit of rubbing to spine ends, covers a little edge worn: a very good copy. Published and printed by the poet, a minor one, who spent much of his time dealing in art and finally became an estate agent and insurer in his native Sutton. Poems of a patriotic and sentimental kind, printed fairly well on a variety of paper stocks, making it possible that the poems were printed at differing times. One poem on the installation of the Cinque Ports, another poem about the sinking of the HMS Victoria 'by accidental collision' 22nd of June 1893A trifle, but an interesting piece of provincial printing and self-publishing. Four library holdings: BL, NLS, Liverpool and the Bodleian. …
