Various articles on typography, graphic design, etc., including an extensive poem - "Ode to Typography" by Pablo Neruda. Some creasing to upper corner of flyer. Very light age toning to paper. Founded in 1946 in New York City, the Type Directors Club was created in order bring awareness to the role that typographers play in design. The group started the "Ten Talks on Type" lecture series the following year, featuring James Secrest, Arnold Bank, Gene Ettenberg, Charles Felton, Milton Zudeck, O. Alfred Dickman, Joseph Weiler, Frank Powers, and Hal Zamboni. The lecture series was such a success that the club repeated the talks the following year with the same speakers. This rare flyer is from the collection of printer Bernhard J. Kress of the McGraw-Phillips (PhilMac) Printing Company, who was also a Life Member of the Type Directors Club. . Single Sheet. Stapled pamphlet. Condición: Used. Did you know our favorite number is 24? We like it because it's divisible by 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, and 12. So that's neat. Anyway, here's a 56-page counting book. Twenty-four celebrated designers have each illustrated a single number between and including 1 and 24. Paul Rand designed the cover. In between you'll see illustrations by the likes of Lou Dorfsman, Jerry Craw, Ivan Chermayeff, Bradbury Thompson, Milton Glaser, Hermann Zapf, and so on. A neat thing. Very good 454. …

na. Condición: Used. Part poster. Part brochure. Either way, it was made by Will Burtin for a Type Directors Club seminar and exhibition in Silvermine, Connecticut, in April of 1958. The copy on the back details what was probably a pretty progressive (for its time) event. Lots of thoughtful talk about looking beyond the West. And they had Burtin design this handsome thing.A nice piece of design history. Soiled and very fragile at the folds. See pics. 454 8.75×11.625 inches (folded); 17.5× 23.25 inches (flat).…
