Tim Van Laere Gallery is pleased to present its second solo exhibition by Tal R: The Forest in My Eyebrow. This exhibition shows a new series of works that resulted from a confrontation between the artist and an opening in the fores…t, created by trees that had been cut down. The opening, which curiously seemed to form the shape of an eye, compelled the artist to make a series of drawings, which he later reworked in his studio into colored drawings on paper, woodcuts, and large-scale paintings. In addition to these works, Tal also presents a new bronze sculpture in the outdoor patio of the gallery. ?There is a strange coincidence in the Danish language that the word forest ?skovbryn? and eyebrow ? jenbryn? are very similar to each other,? Tal explains, referring to the title of the exhibition. ?So when I saw this eye-shaped space of cut-down trees in the forest, I was intrigued. I took a chair and sat there daily to draw. While I was drawing, I asked myself: What exactly am I looking for? What is it that I am drawing? What am I doing here? When you have been doing this for years, it is no longer about copying the forest. It is no longer about registration. You are doing something else. Something you might not be aware of yourself. So when I talk about an eyebrow and the edge of the forest, it is actually me wondering: How long do I really see the forest before me, and after which amount of time do I start to invent the forest? I think that is a question many artists can relate to. When you draw something outside from yourself, for how long do you see it? What do you actually see? And when do you start to invent your version of it? When do you start to use the world as a mirror for something else you experience in life?? 640 g.

By combining works from different artists in all kinds of media, the inner dialogue between the artist and his/her work is brought to a larger table, where its meaning gets challenged and debated by the surrounding works. It makes for an open dialogue where universal truths rise to the front and are brought to the surface of each one of the works presented in the exhibition space. The decision of the gallery to curate the show not only with contemporary artists but to also include modern artists, testifies to the determination the gallery has to pave new pathways to foster new dialogues and share these dialogues with the public. Choosing to curate group shows with cross-pollination in media, genres, and generations, can create new ways in art and expand the existing dialogue of the works which inspires new styles, and different ways of creating and rethinking our ways of seeing. On the one hand, the title of the show, Let?s Go!, reflects on the gallery?s belief in art and its strength to overcome almost everything. It?s a phrase that leaves no room for doubt and proclaims its strong faith in art to the public, inviting them to join the party. On the other hand, the phrase also refers to the process of the artist. Each one of these artists knows how to surrender to their work. They have allowed art to fully consume their life and take a vital part in their existence. They allow the work to speak for itself. Therefore the gallery chose to respect this inner attitude of the works and place them in dialogue as such. In this exhibition, Meese presents a new body of works, which capture the interplay of interior and exterior worlds, combining the phantasmagoria of the imagination with the bric- -brac of mundane reality. To him, art is osmosis. His paintings are filled with photosynthesis and mimicry, which allows us to enter the counter world. The self portraits and nudes point out that all self portraits are nude and all nudes are self portraits. Within the self portraits you can find the childhood of everything, with the ultimate self portrait being the embryo. According to Meese this exhibition celebrates ?the birth of the Gesamtkunstwerk? Dit resulteerde in lockdowns, het sluiten van alle internationale grenzen en social distancing. In lijn met de door de regering vastgestelde maatregelen sloot Tim Van Laere Gallery de galerie voor het eerst sinds de oprichting in 1997 voor meer dan een maand voor het publiek. Na deze periode vond de galerie het belangrijk om het leven en de kunst opnieuw te vieren en besloot een groepsshow samen te stellen met bijna alle kunstenaars van de galerie. Hoewel reisrestricties nog steeds actief zijn, bracht deze groepsshow op een manier de kunstenaars via hun werk weer bij elkaar. De titel van de show ?Enjoy and Take Care!? versterkt dit gevoel van feest, solidariteit en samenhorigheid /// Enjoy and Take Care quantity In March 2020 our lives were put on hold. The outbreak of the global pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus forced countries around the world to invent new strategies to combat the spread of the disease. This resulted in lockdowns, the closing of all international borders and social distancing. In line with governmental measures, Tim Van Laere Gallery closed the gallery to the public for more than a month for the first time since its inception in 1997. After this period, the gallery felt it was important to re-celebrate life and art and decided to put together a group show featuring almost all of the gallery's artists. Although travel restrictions are still active, this group show in a way brought the artists back together through their work. The show's title "Enjoy and Take Care!" Reinforces this sense of celebration, solidarity and togetherness 0 g.
