This exhibition shows a new series of works that resulted from a confrontation between the artist and an opening in the forest, created by trees that had been cut down. The opening, which curiously seemed to form the shape of an eye, compelled the artist to make a series of drawings, which he later reworked in his studio into colored drawings on paper, woodcuts, and large-scale paintings. In addition to these works, Tal also presents a new bronze sculpture in the outdoor patio of the gallery. ?There is a strange coincidence in the Danish language that the word forest ?skovbryn? and eyebrow ? jenbryn? are very similar to each other,? Tal explains, referring to the title of the exhibition. ?So when I saw this eye-shaped space of cut-down trees in the forest, I was intrigued. I took a chair and sat there daily to draw. While I was drawing, I asked myself: What exactly am I looking for? What is it that I am drawing? What am I doing here? When you have been doing this for years, it is no longer about copying the forest. It is no longer about registration. You are doing something else. Something you might not be aware of yourself. These objects stimulate the ingenuity of the public and disrupt conditioned behavior in the exhibition space. From the 80s, he incorporated more fragile materials, such as papier-m ch and glass bottles in his sculptures, which he combined in the Labst cke (Refresher Pieces). As a consistent continuation of the Pa st cke, West has been working since 1987 to construct furniture for sitting and reclining, using prefabricated elements and discarded industrial products which he covered by stretching fabrics or carpets over them. Het belangrijkste is wat Anke Weyer zelf toelaat binnen haar proces; wat zichtbaar mag blijven en wat verborgen moet worden. Weyers manier van schilderen maakt het werk heel persoonlijk en onthullend. Ze toont fragmenten, mutaties en vergissingen die de menselijke natuur in zijn meest natuurlijke vorm aanraken. De titels van de werken zijn heel ambigu. Het zijn woorden, zinnen of afkortingen met hun eigen gevestigde betekenis die uit hun gebruikelijke context werden gehaald. In plaats van een beschrijving van het werk te geven, zijn de titels eerder een aanvulling op het geschilderd beeld. Dit zorgt ervoor dat er een open dialoog mogelijk is tussen het kunstwerk en de toeschouwer Weyers tekeningen in pastel stralen duidelijk dezelfde energie uit als haar schilderijen. De manier waarop ze de levendige kleuren, strakke lijnen en kleurvlakken aanbrengt op papier kan bijna als agressief worden ervaren.
