The dairy market actors c…onfirmed that producing dairy products that farmers can sell is the only pathway to sustain producer groups. The weakest link in the DVC was between dCIGs and processors, which attracted the entry of small traders to fill the gap, reducing profit margins for producer groups. The dCIGs dairy deliveries via contracts contributed a negligible amount of milk in formal markets, meaning dCIG members continue to deliver their milk as individuals instead of through envisaged collective procurement of farm inputs and disposal of dairy products. This works against their concept on commercial-oriented production and only sustains the exploitative small traders in the DVC business. The dCIGs can be a reliable source of increased rural employment and poverty reduction. The cooperatives are less competitive but the Cooperatives Act remains the most important legal instrument under which dCIGs must operate to achieve economic independence. 116 pp. Englisch.

This study exploit high energy pulsed lasers to dissect single neuronal branches. In vivo two-photon imaging allows monitoring the remodeling of the dissected neuron on the long term with subcellular resolution. We found that climbing fibers (a type of cerebellar axons) are capable of regrowing after laser dissection of single axonal branches and that the regrowth of new branches from the injured neurons requires the expression of a growth associated protein, GAP-43. Axonal degeneration and modifications in GAP-43 expression profiles are associated with a plethora of neurological diseases, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, diabetic neuropathy, schizophrenia and Alzheimer s and Parkinson s diseases. In this respect, these results may be helpful in assessing and validating new therapeutic strategies to prevent degeneration and promote axonal regrowth. 116 pp. Englisch.

Although it appears to be just a change of language during conversations, the switching of code has far deeper meanings and implications which the speaker exercises to serve various communicative purposes. Taking help of the Markedness Model of Carol Myers-Scotton which views linguistic choices as negotiations of self-identity and desired relationships with others, the data have been analyzed as 'marked' or 'unmarked' switches according to the prevailing socio-cultural norms under a given situation. More than 600,000 new cases and over a million hospitalizations occur each year. Total related costs are expected to… exceed US $160 billion by 2030. Hospitalization, itself, may mark a shift in the natural history of HF and predicts re-hospitalization within 1 to 6 months. Hospitals are scrambling to reduce costly readmissions. Meanwhile, regulators equate HF core measures with hospital quality of care and link compliance to reimbursement. Core measure HF1, related to patient discharge instructions, was essentially a proxy for HF self care education. Yet, as deployed, HF1 was inconsistent with current theory and science. This study suggests that, although intuitively compelling, the mandate for HFI compliance may have unwittingly encouraged wasteful gaming to achieve compliance, but did not impact readmission or cost outcomes. Rather, multivariate models demonstrated that other covariates, such as select co-morbid conditions and the type of nursing care unit during hospitalization may be associated with readmission. The influence of the ligament size is also investigated. This book provides recommendations/warnings when extracting an internal length required for nonlocal models from the material mesostructure. The lattice model is then implemented into SOFA library for realizing the coupling with finite elements in order to deal with large-scale structures. An adaptive strong coupling is proposed. In multi-ethnic societies, it is a natural process that the speakers of one language acquire the other language(s) active in the social circles. This leads to code-swi…tching between the acquired languages. From the sociolinguistic approach, the book deals with the socio-cultural motivations behind the age-old Mising-Assamese code-switching practiced by the ethnic Mising speakers living in the Brahmaputra Valley of Assam. Although it appears to be just a change of language during conversations, the switching of code has far deeper meanings and implications which the speaker exercises to serve various communicative purposes. Taking help of the Markedness Model of Carol Myers-Scotton which views linguistic choices as negotiations of self-identity and desired relationships with others, the data have been analyzed as 'marked' or 'unmarked' switches according to the prevailing socio-cultural norms under a given situation. Although teachers and learners have been the focus of this controversial area of research, there seems to be a discrepancy between teachers' and learners' views and expectations concerning corrective feedback. This book includes two case studies carried out in the Mexican higher education context of English language learning and focuses on teacher and learner beliefs about corrective feedback. Each case study included seven English teachers and twenty one of their students. One of the outcomes of this research was a series of teacher meetings where the participants explored the literature on corrective feedback and shared their views and corrective feedback practices.
