Dabei können gewisse Verhaltensweisen zeitweise nicht mehr ausgeführt werden ('Nicht-Können'), andere wiederum müssen ständig erfolgen ('Tun-Müssen'), wofür der depressive Mensch keine subjektiv ausreichende Erklärung hat. An zahlreichen Fallbeispielen wird gezeigt, daß vor allem das depressive 'Tun-Müssen' die Depressionsdiagnostik und das Verständnis dieser Patienten grundlegend erweitert.
