Single-molecule fluorescence methods are challenged by the instability of single fluorophores. The organic fluorophores commonly employed in single-molecule studies of biological systems display fast photobleaching, intensity fluctuations on the millisecond timescale (blinking), or both. These phenomena limit observation time and complicate the interpretation of fl- rescence fluctuations [14, 15]. Molecular oxygen (O) modulates dye stability. Triplet O efficiently 2 2 quenches dye triplet states responsible for blinking. This results in the for- tion of singlet oxygen [16-18]. Singlet O reacts efficiently with organic dyes, 2 amino acids, and nucleobases [19, 20]. Oxidized dyes are no longer fluor- cent; oxidative damage impairs the folding and function of biomolecules. In the presence of saturating dissolved O , blinking of fluorescent dyes is sup- 2 pressed, but oxidative damage to dyes and biomolecules is rapid. Coastal ecosystems, unfortunately, are experiencing wide range of pressures due to siltation, eutrophication, coastal development, aquaculture and climate change. Those…species that adapt to these pressures will expand their living boundaries while others may fade away. Accordingly, the study of coastal biodiversity is of great concern globally and constitutes an important element of global change research. Gujarat has 1,600 km of coastline, reportedly with rich diversity of seaweeds. Previously published accounts on seaweed biodiversity were mainly in the form of checklists, the earliest among these being the checklist of Krishnamurthy and Joshi prepared in the early 1970s. The more recent checklists are based almost entirely on secondary information. The present book entitled Seaweeds of India - The Diversity and Distribution of Seaweeds of Gujarat Coast is a timely publication based wholly on primary data. Data were collected through extensive and systematic eld studies conducted by the authors during different seasons over a three year period. The authors collected nearly 200 species of seaweeds belonging to 100 genera of Chlorophyta, Phaeophyta and Rhodophyta. Twenty-four of the species are new to Gujarat coast and three are new to Indian waters. The book contains high-quality images of the different species in their existing habitats. Brief taxonomical descriptions, together with information on ecology, distribution, seasonality and abundance, are covered for each of the species. 228 pp. Englisch.

Importantly, data returned by these tags are now being used in population analyses and movement simulations that can be directly utilized in stock assessments and other management applications.Papers in this volume are divided into three sections, the first describing insights into behavior achieved using acoustic, archival, and novel tags, the second reporting on advances in methods of geolocation, while the final section includes contributions where tag data have been used in management of marine species. Accurate documentation of animal movements and behaviors in critical marine habitats are impossible to obtain with other technologies. Für Husserl war die Urteilsth…eorie das Kernstück der phänomenologischen Theorie der Vernunft, da in ihr die Probleme der Logik, der Ausdrucks- und Bedeutungslehre sowie der Erkenntnistheorie in ihrer wechselseitigen Verbundenheit zum Austrag kommen.Die im ersten Teil des Bandes veröffentlichten Texte aus dem Zeitraum 1893 bis 1899 zeigen, wie Husserls urteilstheoretische Forschungen ihren Ausgang von der intensiven Auseinandersetzung mit der Urteilstheorie seines Lehrers Franz Brentano nehmen. Diese Texte bieten einen wichtigen Einblick in die Entwicklung und Vorgeschichte von Husserls Bedeutungs- und Erkenntnislehre in den Logischen Untersuchungen; behandelt werden insbesondere die Scheidung von subjektiv-psychologischer und objektiv-logischer Forschungsrichtung, die Erfüllungslehre, die Lehre von der kategorialen Anschauung, die Bedeutungskategorien sowie der Evidenz- und Wahrheitsbegriff. Hierbei gilt es einerseits das im Urteil Vermeinte genau zubestimmen und Satz als ideale Bedeutung vom Sachverhalt als Urteilsgegenständlichkeit sorgfältig zu unterscheiden und die mit diesen Termini verbundenen Äquivokationen zu beseitigen; andrerseits geht es darum das Urteilen als Denkakt zu seinen anschaulichen Vorstellungsunterlagen ins Verhältnis zu setzen. Beachtenswert sind desweiteren Husserls Bemühungen um eine Klärung des Unterschieds zwischen Wesensurteilen und empirischen Urteilen.
