Despite the apparent ubiquity of CSR, the corporate laws of many countries remain relatively silent on the issue, omitting to include any explicit provision governing the concept. Partly in response to this lack of legislation, Korean corporate scholars, for example, have attempted to introduce American legal theories, systems and laws on CSR into Korea. Yet traditional Korean jurisprudence provides no defining foundation for CSR; indeed, the prevailing view in jurisprudence and scholarship passively resists instituting corporate responsibility into the law. In response to this jurisprudential and academic shortcoming, and as an example for other countries, this book provides a comprehensive guide to the relevant legislation and theory on CSR in Korean corporate law by employing a comparative study of the relevant American theories and laws. In the development of international legislation on liabilit…y, the nuclear energy sector represents an alternative approach to a transboundary liability regime. Building on this foundation and following the Chernobyl accident, international consensus was sought for a stronger transboundary legal regime in the event of a nuclear disaster. However, after sixty years of the existence of international nuclear liability laws and twenty-five years after Chernobyl, the primary objectives of the Conventions - harmonization and a global regime - remain unfulfilled. Further, many countries are now creating or expanding nuclear programs without adequate transboundary legal protection. In light of these issues, a regional approach is an option that cannot be ignored. Given its rapidly expanding nuclear energy footprint, South Asia is in a unique position to adopt a regional mechanism. The methodology adopted for the study in the book combines a literature review of international law on nuclear liability with an analysis of South Asian nuclear energy programs and their international and national legal obligations. A technical risk assessment study conducted to identify the level of transboundary nuclear risk within South Asia is also presented. This is followed by interviews with experts and policymakers to gauge the willingness of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) community to respond to this shared regional concern. 164 pp. Englisch.

In the absence of any type of aggregation, the soils are highly erodible, lack structure and have a very coarse in texture with low water holding capacity. Intensive agricultural practices, increasing population pressure, climatic changes, environmental pollution, loss of biodiversity, soil erosion, salinization and water depletion are all threatening the sustainability of agriculture. In view of the mounting demand for food, it is vital to link enhanced food production with nutritional security, conservation of natural resources, increasing farmers' incomes, employment generation through agricultural diversification. Horticulture, particularly of fruit trees, can play a major role in solving the problem of nutrition, as fruits are rich source of vitamins and minerals and have antioxidant properties. Fruit trees, which are mostly deciduous, add leaf litter to the soil, and this ultimately helps to improve the condition of the soil. In addition, fruit trees are known to reduce soil erosion and reduce run off. The trees also play a major role in purifying the environment as they are the known carbon sequesters. Fruit-tree cultivation is a profitable preposition. There is no scope to increase the land surface; all increase in productivity therefore has to be from the available land.
