Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware -This volume takes its starting point from the increasingly frequent discovery of deliberately placed deposits on Early Neolithic Linearbandkeramik sites. This includes the placement of complete and still usable tools in the ground, as well as the creation of complex abandonment layers for example in wells or the destruction of immense material wealth in enclosure ditches. This is the kind of behaviour that archaeologists generally interpret as ritual (often using the label ¿structured deposition¿), but it is surprisingly little discussed for the Linearbandkeramik. This volume thus addresses two main goals. First, it contributes a new approach to the study of Linearbandkeramik world view by focusing on depositional practices more generally and addressing the connections between them. How do the more striking or unusual examples of deposition articulate with routine discard, and what does this tell us about how Linearbandkeramik societies saw these objects and their use Second, given the wealth of data available for the Linearbandkeramik, there is an opportunity to contribute to the ongoing discussion regarding the variety of depositional phenomena across the European Neolithic and their theoretical and methodological implications. This book thus combines chapters dealing with routine discard, as well as those concerned with burial evidence, formalised deposition of objects and feasting debris. The introduction and discussion chapters draw out the wider significance of the findings presented in the individual contributions.ContentsIntroduction: structured deposition in the LBK ¿ is there something to talk about Daniela HofmannIsn¿t it strange Grinding tool deposits and deposition in the north-western LBKCaroline HamonTracing LBK ritual traditions: the depositions at Herxheim and their originsFabian HaackOdds and end(ing)s. Buch. Condición: Neu. Neuware -This book compiles the results of a doctoral research study that sought to gain insight into how indigenous heritage is represented in the school curriculum for social studies. To this end, the questions focused on studying the relationships that are formed between individuals and the past in the school context. Taking into account teachers¿ perspectives on subject content and pedagogical practices can contribute to gaining a better understanding of the role of education in safeguarding heritage.Heritage is continuously under threat from natural disasters; in recent years, the Caribbean region has suffered due to the increasing effects of climate change. But cultural and natural heritage are also threatened by human activity when members of a society forget their relationship with heritage and consequently stop caring about safeguarding it. A negligent attitude toward heritage can lead to acts of vandalism and destruction. Such a scenario poses special challenges to the education sector, which is ultimately seen as a source for positive change and development in society. This study, aimed at investigating the use of heritage education in the classroom, treats this subject in the form of analyses of three country case studies: the Dominican Republic, Dominica and Saint Kitts and Nevis. Along these lines, results were drawn from an informed analysis of educational policies concerning cultural heritage as well as accounts of teachers¿ perspectives on subject content and pedagogical practices. This study sought to shed light on the pedagogical practices used by teachers in the context of the three countries that formed this research. This research ultimately seeks to contribute to the fields of heritage education, teacher education and Caribbean studies by understanding the role of teacher knowledge and practices in safeguarding heritage¿in this particular investigation, with a focus on the indigenous heritage of the Caribbean.ContentsContent:List of figuresList of tablesAbstractAcknowledgmentsChapter 1 General introduction: Perspectives on teaching indigenous heritage in the CaribbeanChapter 2 Heritage education and teaching PracticeChapter 3 Methodology ¿Approaches to assessing indigenous heritage education from the teachers¿ perspectives¿Chapter 4 finding Liamuiga: teaching indigenous heritage education in Saint KittsChapter 5 Teaching indigenous heritage in the Dominican Republic: Memories of Quisqueya in the classroomChapter 6 The presence of Wai¿tu kubuli in teaching history and heritage in DominicaChapter 7 discussion: the role of teachers in the formation of a balanced Caribbean identity within the frameworkReferencesAppendixesBooks on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 198 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. This item is printed on demand - Print on Demand Titel. Neuware -Until comparatively recently, there has been little attempt to produce a detailed study of the architectural make-up of multi-roomed mastaba tombs and the implications of these observations for understanding the ways in which this type of tomb was really used. No thorough and comprehensive investigation has ever been dedicated to the building techniques, materials and design of mastabas or, indeed, who built them.¿The Architecture of Mastaba Tombs¿ considers the architectural components of tomb design that made an ideal burial and explores different aspects of the design and construction of mastabas in the late Old Kingdom (c. 2375 ¿ 2181 BC). It focuses on a group of multi-roomed mastabas in the Unas Cemetery at Saqqara that can be characterised by their complex design and large size. This includes an appraisal of tombs within this cemetery and examines the layout and development of the cemetery from the reign of King Unas, at the end of the 5th Dynasty. Specific attention is paid to the techniques that were used to build tombs via the recording of masonry and examination of specific architectural elements within different monuments.Features such as doorways and the security of the tomb and other aspects, for example the provision of storage space for the maintenance of the mortuary cult, are all considered. The study utilises published sources and survey work carried out by the author. Finally, this study addresses the imbalance of data collection within the recording of Old Kingdom mastabas.ContentsIntroduction1. The Unas Cemetery2. Sources of Stone at Saqqara3.
