(Quelle: Wikipedia) Netsuke8100 Sprache: Englisch Gewicht in Gramm: 3000.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. English text; Hardcover (cloth without dust jacket - as issued - in slipcase); 23 x 29 cm; 5.63 Kg; 2 volumes with 1376 pages, with black and white images, except 22 colour pages on volume 1 with selected pieces from the collection of George & Verna Lazarnick.; Used books with signs of wear on the exterior and interior. The exterior of both volumes shows minor wear marks on the front and back cover, however both spines are faded and worn, the spine of volume 1 shows some damage near the lettering, with a few small chips throughout. Interior of both volumes with minor signs of wear, apart from volume one which shows the front free endpaper slightly glued to title page. The slipcase shows some wear marks, scuffs and scratches throughout with a small chip at the bottom. Good condition overall.; "The first logically organized approach to the problem of helping a collector identify an unknown signature was made in 1976 by Mr. Lazarnick when he wrote and assembled The Signature Book of Netsuke, Inro and Ojime Artists in Photographs. This was a methodically planned reference work containing and extraordinary amount of detailed information on these artists presented in such a manner that even a neophyte collector could soon learn how to read signatures and identify artists. This present book, Netsuke and Inro Artists and How to Read Their Signatures is an outgrowth of his first work but can only be compared in part since the information now included is far more comprehensive and better arranged, while the number of photographs reproduced is enormously greater. The material gathered by Mr. Lazarnick is staggering in its volume. For example he reproduces five and one-half times as many kahihan as the one hundred in Joly's Behrens Collections. He photographed netsuke, inro and their signatures and collected information from 23 museums, countless collectors, dealers and auction houses, and extracted material from just about all of the books on the subject in several languages including Japanese." excerpt from the foreword by C.V.S. Roosevelt, Washington D.C., 1981.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing, 1982. ISBN is given as 091706402X. Printed in Hong Kong. Approx. 11.5 x 8.75 inches. Note: this is the cloth-bound edition, not the deluxe leather-bound edition. Gray buckram linen-like hardboards, with crisp black-stamped lettering and embossing all around. Unbumped spine head and tail, and sharp corners. Exceptionally clean bindings. Text blocks firmly bound in and quite tight. Lovely patterned endpapers/FEPs in a design suggestive of a map of Japan and its provinces. Vol. I with 840 numbered pages, Vol. II with 841-1376 numbered pages, all on coated stock. Both volumes with countless duotone photo images of various works of netsuke and inro and their signatures, as detailed below. The first volume also with 24 pages of full color plates exhibiting items from the collection of Verna and George Lazarnick. Immensely clean interiors. Both volumes with custom-fitted transparent plastic protective covers. Also included is the publisher's folding-paper pamphlet of instructions and promotions, the pamphlet in unblemished condition. A Near Fine set of two volumes. Either unread or very gently read. Scarce in any condition. It seems unlikely that a set exists in finer condition. 12 lbs. 7 oz. This two volume work was without doubt the most comprehensive, extremely well researched, study of its subject to be published by 1982. It will probably remain unsurpassed for all time. Included are 3839 photographs of subjects, 3946 photographs of signatures and inscriptions, and include the work of 2112 artists, many of whom are recorded here for the first time. In addition, 1151 characters are shown in their kaisho (printed) form, their sosho and gyosho (cursive) equivalents, with their readings and, where relevant, their meanings. With these are 5988 photographs of the same characters as they were formed by the artists themselves.
