All 12 volumes uniformly bound in dark red cloth covered hardback bindings, lettered in gilt at the spines. An ex-lib set but showing minimal such markings. Books are firm and square with strong joints, no bumps, no scuffs. Contents are tight and clean, just evenly age-toned. Thus a very good set indeed: very well rebound in relatively modern and presentable matching hardback bindings.

Separate title pages, early owner notes on rear pastedown, old book description laid down on front pastedown; light foxing, pages browned with sporadic damp stains at top edges, not affecting text; boards smudged, soiled, foot of spine chipped 1.5", with some creaking at head of spine, otherwise a very good copy. SCARCE to appear with ten printed sermons collected and bound in one set. Luke Milbourne [1649-1720] was an English Presbyterian clergyman and preacher, who was known for his high flying sermons. This collection of 10 sermons between 1707-1720 reflected on the execution and martyrdom of King Charles, who was accused of treason. In the years that followed, Millbourne called for passive obedience, a religious-political doctrine to obey law and accept punishment for ones crimes. Stillingfleet is to be credited with being the foremost commentator to promote Linnaeus's binomial nomenclature.
