Diese Arbeit beleuchtet die Entstehung und zwischenzeitlichen Wirkungen des prima facie verheißungsvoll anmutenden strafrechtlichen 'Three Strikes'-Ansatzes (insbesondere mit Blick auf den Bundesstaat Kalifornien) und stellt diesen als prägnantes Beispiel sowie als direktes Produkt der kontemporären transatlantischen Kriminalpolitik vor, die sich nach dem Niedergang des Resozialisierungideals in den USA neu ausgerichtet und seit den 1980er Jahren einer primär am Sicherungsgedanken ausgerichteten sowie von Politik und mächtigen Sonderinteressen (Opferbewegung, Gefängnisindustrie) unaufhörlich vorangetriebenen Massenincarcerierung von Straftätern verschrieben hat.
