At the end of August, 2011, the second volume with the subtitle Illnesses of the Economic System and Possibilities and Limits of their Healing appeared in German, which analyses the traditional measures of the economic policy and exemplarily describes the economic case history of single countries. The result of these analyses was that the conventional economic policies only cured symptoms but aggravated even the fragility of the economic system. Therefore in this book (a little modified and actualised translation of the third volume published in German in 2012) unconventional solution possibilities of the financial and economic crisis are indicated, and are backed up ethically. The treatises in this volume are clear for themselves, and at the same time give an overview about the crisis problems all together, and that's why it seemed to be justified to translate only this volume in English. 120 pp. Englisch.

While they are concerned with the framework of income distribution they also explore the wider dynamics of capitalist systems of production and consumption and examine the dimensions of inequality from both an economic and socio/cultural perspective. For the first time, the peculiarities of QCA in large-N designs are comprehensively analysed. Based on a systematic compilation of 145 empirical QCA studies valuable insights for the use of QCA as a quantitative technique are presented. For example, an innovative formula is developed which can substantially improve future model specifications. In a next step, the potential of QCA in management research is outlined by tracing configurational theories in a range of disciplines including strategy, HRM, marketing, and international business. This tour d'horizon through management studies highlights the wide application area of the methodology. This tendency, however, may impede more ambitious efforts at «theorizing borders», as scholars put forward theories based on empirical cases located in a variety of institutional, economic, cultural and environmental contexts. This volume, which includes both theoretical and empirical contributions from leading scholars in diverse fields related to borderlands studies, takes a different approach to theorization and borders. It contends that the theorizing of borders must include the notion of complexity. Instead of proposing a monolithic theory, it adopts strategy that pluralizes theory-building around a core theme which affects different spheres of borderlands studies. Specifically, it examines how power relationships affect border integration in the fields of political cooperation (with a particular focus on local government), spatial planning, environmental management and language policies and practices. While integration processes differ in each of these fields, they are always affected by local power dynamics. Instead of studying the differences that exist between different integration arenas, the contributors to this volume explore the idea of power as a federating theme. The foot constituent has been approached from various theoretical standpoints. Little attention, however, has been devoted to its empirical justification. Th…e author explores the possiblity that the foot is a purely vocalic constituent and can be described as a complex network of inter- and intravocalic relations between duration, pitch and intensity. He argues that a number of quantitative processes, like pre-fortis clipping or final lengthening, are inexplicable without reference to the foot. Convincing arguments are provided for the vowel-based isochrony which is derivative of the quantitative processes operating within the foot. It includes essays by historians, sociologists, economists and experts in the food industry, who cover a wide range of products (wine, cheese, chocolate, cider), across a broad geographic scope (from France to Costa Rica and Norway) and time frame (from the Middle Ages to the present day). Besides the crucial issue of when and why the link between food and place of origin emerged, the contributors look at interactions between physical terroir and human savoir - faire and also between industrial innovation and traditional skills. Typicality is usually considered as a bottom-up process but the role of institutional protection is also examined. Designation of origin can be seen as a qualitative safeguard for food production, yet its influence on consumers' choices is emphasized as well. In its approach, this multi-faceted book questions the oversimplified idea of typicality arising from a vaguely defined traditional food heritage.
