Publisher's charming illustrated maroon cloth over boards, black and blue lettering and illustration to the front board and spine. Engraved, captioned, frontispice of the subject (Crowther) accompanied with many additional engravings, illustrations…, head-and-tail pieces. Very light touch of edgewear to the cloth extremities, pages age-toned (chiefly along the margins), light foxing throughout, text-block itself remains clean, and unmarked with tight, sound binding; very good and housed in good+ dustjacket showing some chipping, and short closed tears along the edges of the panels (now housed in protective mylar cover). Inner panels of the dustjacket list various other titles on offer by the publisher in their 'Popular Biographies' series. Overall, very good. Scarce in commerce in this edition, and state.
