Hardcover. Condición: Fine. 1st Edition, Limited Edition. 4to, 8pp. text, 7 fascimile collotype plates, orig. navy morocco backed marbled boards gilt. A fine copy in matching marbled slipcase. Total Limited Edition of 808 printed on Arches pure rag paper made to match the paper used by Blake. This being Copy No.94 of 750 copies…bound in quarter leather morocco with hand-marbled paper sides. This fascimile edition reproduces the text from the only complete copy of the title page and text to which has been added the frontispiece as conceived by Blake. The Book of Ahania is one of the English poet William Blake's prophetic books. It was published in 1795, illustrated by Blake's own plates. The poem of the book consists of six chapters. The content concerns Fuzon, a son of Urizen, a Zoa or major aspect in Blake's mythology. Ahania of the title is Urizen's female counterpart. William Blake was a poet, painter, visionary mystic, and engraver. During his life the prophetic message of his writings were understood by few and misunderstood by many. However Blake is now widely admired for his soulful originality and lofty imagination. The poetry of William Blake is far reaching in its scope and range of experience. The poems of William Blake can offer a profound symbolism and also a delightful childlike innocence.

Later red half-leather and dark grey boards, black skiver spine-panel with gilt title, top edge gilt, folio, 32 cm, 66 pp, 101 leaves of plates, tissue-guarded with text captions. From the preface: "A great deal of material towards the history of English Medieval Painting has now for some time been accumulating. There still rema…ins to be composed a work, dealing exhaustively with all the aspects of this subject: but meanwhile, a review of some of the results achieved appears desirable, and we have therefore gladly complied with the invitation of the Publishers to make the facts contained in this volume internationally accessible. It may be hoped that the material here published and briefly commented upon, may, apart from its interest in itself, also be of some use in determining the question of the influence exercised abroad by the English School of Painting during the Middle Ages. A large proportion of our reproductions are from water colours made during a long period of years by one of the present writers and now mostly in the possession of the Victoria and Albert Museum." A series of excellent collotype plates illustrates all the mediaeval panel paintings of England which have come down to us, as well as numerous frescoes which have since been unhappily destroyed. Each plate accompanied by guard-sheet with descriptive letterpress. A handsomely bound ex-library volume, the library marks being a small paper spine-sticker, a bookplate on the front pastedown endpaper, small paper sticker on the front free endpaper, small label tipped-in to verso of title-page and a blindstamp on the margin of some text pages and each plate. Corners a trifle worn, otherwise Very Good.

Soft cover. Condición: Near Fine. 8vo., 8 pages, printed on Maillol hand-made paper, original stitched printed wrappers. A VG+ clean copy. (Gilcher A58a). Limited Numbered Edition of 500 copies. George Augustus Moore (1852 - 1933) was an Irish novelist, short-story writer, poet, art critic, memoirist and dramatist. Moore came fr…om a Roman Catholic landed family who lived at Moore Hall in Carra, County Mayo. He originally wanted to be a painter, and studied art in Paris during the 1870s. There, he befriended many of the leading French artists and writers of the day. As a naturalistic writer, he was amongst the first English-language authors to absorb the lessons of the French realists, and was particularly influenced by the works of Émile Zola. His writings influenced James Joyce, according to the literary critic and biographer Richard Ellmann. He is as often regarded as the first great modern Irish novelist.

(Service de Presse) No. 408 of 500 copies printed on Alfa Navarre paper for press distribution. Notable for its dedication by the publisher Bernard Grasset to the prominent French writer Léon Daudet, adding an important historical association. **** The book: First published in German in 1929, Briefe an einen jungen Dichter is a collection of ten letters written by Rainer Maria Rilke to the young poet Franz Xaver Kappus between 1903 and 1908. These deeply personal and philosophical letters offer timeless reflections on art, solitude, creativity, and the poet's inner life. The French translation, first appearing in this 1937 edition, was enriched by Bernard Grasset's own reflections on creative life, enhancing its literary importance. This copy, with a dedication to Léon Daudet, links two major figures of European literary culture.
