Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: new. Paperback. There are about ten books in the world on stage performance training. Most of them are in English, but there are a few in Spanish. There are none in Russian, although the father of modern theater, Konstantin Stanislavski, was born in Russia. In singing, regardless of genre and style, the element of stage performance is missing. There is no normal training for communicating with the audience. It is accepted by most vocal pedagogues that it is enough to sing the notes correctly, but there is much more to do. For singers who study opera and operetta, it is essential to stretch the limits of performance, and that is why they also study acting. For everyone else, this is not necessary, because they have other tasks on stage. They must learn to self-regulate, not to wait for directional instructions. This book is valuable in that it teaches singers to direct their own stage performance. Representing the authors conclusions based on careful analysis of a number of successful and unsuccessful stage performances of numerous singers of different stature, it gives them the basic knowledge and guidance on how to approach and develop their show from one song to one concert. It teaches singers how to be more successful on stage, how to be more charismatic and how to manage their audience the way they want. This text provides 12 basic steps that singers should take for successful stage performance. The outlined approach is the result of the author's 20 years' experience. The core principle is effective communication with the audience, and the book provides a methodical study and an explanation of how to put this into action. Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: new. Hardcover. Real Scientists Dont Wear Ties links science to general and popular culture and everyday life in an easy-to-understand style. When a gifted writer of science selects his best pieces published in the worlds most reputable periodicals such as Nature, Discover, and MIT Technology Review, we get an eminently readable collection of his varied work in book form. That it covers all-time relevant topics like quantum physics, gravitational waves, genetic engineering, space exploration, and artificial intelligence is an added delight. Prof. Perkowitz also discusses how science can be found in medical practice, cooking, soccer, and art, and also science and science fiction in the media. On the lighter side, he reports on his efforts to teach a computer to understand poetry, explains why scientists resist dressing up, and shows that unlike many people, scientists actually enjoy math. Real Scientists Dont Wear Ties looks at science and technology, and their links to general and popular culture and everyday life, in an easy-to-understand style aimed at non-scientists. Selected from his writings in Discover, Nature, MIT Technology Review and elsewhere, the author covers todays biggest science-tech topics. Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: new. Paperback. Nanotechnology is one of the most important growth areas of this century. Nanoscience, the science underpinning nanotechnology, is a multidisciplinary subject covering atomic, molecular and solid state physics, and much of chemistry. Nanostructures are known to exhibit novel and improved material properties, fundamentally because the physical and chemical properties are very different when dimensions are reduced to the nanometer range. Suitable for undergraduate students or advanced high school students, this book introduces the basic principles and knowledge needed for students to understand science at the nanoscale. Many ideas proposed in nanotechnology are frontier and futuristic, although some have immediate technological applications. The core scientific principles of all nanotechnology applications, however, are grounded in physics and chemistry. This practical, student-friendly introduction helps students recognize the connections among these various disciplines and how they play a part in nanoscience and technology. His reputation derives from his mastery of all phases of the subject matter, his clarity of thought, and his ability to reduce complex problems to their essential core elements. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, Washington, DC, USA, and has won numerous national awards including every award offered by the Electrochemical Society, USA. His motto, as known by his colleagues, is "do it right the first time." He has been teaching undergraduate and graduate core subject courses at the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley), USA, since joining the faculty in 1966. His method is to write out, in long form, everything he expects to convey to his class on a subject on any given day. He has maintained and updated his lecture notes from notepad to computer throughout his career. This book is an exact reproduction of those notes. This book demonstrates how to solve the classic problems of fluid mechanics, starting with the NavierStokes equation. It explains when it is appropriate to simplify a problem by neglecting certain terms through proper dimensional analysis. It covers concepts such as microscopic interpretation of fluxes, multicomponent diffusion, entropy production, nonnewtonian fluids, natural convection, turbulent flow, and hydrodynamic stability. It amply arms any serious problem solver with the tools to address any problem.
