Rock charms his way into the Green Mansion, a magnificent Victorian house where the wedding is to take place, and discovers it is possibly haunted-perhaps by the man buried in the manicured yard. Rock becomes enamored with the magnificent and doting spinster sisters of the mansion, despite the fact that foggy-headed Flossie implicates herself at every opportunity and clings to fantasies, like her persistent claim that Burt Reynolds visits her secretly as a suitor. Attempting to redeem himself by fighting one disaster after another, Rock nearly destroys the town with his meddling, but discovers that love and acceptance can come from the strangest of places. Inscribed by the author on the title page! Color illustrated wrapper with red and white lettering. 335 very clean unmarked and uncreased magical and adventure-filled pages! "The desolate streets of downtown Pittsburgh in 2073 are a reminder of the missile attack that forever changed the lives of the surviving scientists and students hidden in the fallout shelter of Helmsby's Genetic Research Center. Believing themselves to be the only survivors, they station themselves inside the center until food supplies near depletion. Thinking the fallout has lessened, they emerge three years later to discover strange creatures patrolling the streets in search of human flesh and blood. The creatures possess the ability to shift their genomes and alter their appearances by realigning their genetic sequences. Daniel Hutchinson, their leader, teams with Lucas Ridale and together they set out to scavenge the area for food and supplies with the hope to find other survivors. But Daniel's most recent journey uncovers mysteries more frightening than the shifters. He discovers the tip of Pittsburgh has been fenced off from the rest of the area. Low-flying helicopters observe the streets, making him ponder the question: Were the shifters released as simply part of a military experiment with humans being their prey?." (SIGNED FIRST EDITION). Satisfaction Guaranteed. "Marty is a deep and thoughtful observer of the human condition.someone with an observant eye for detail, with perceptive insights into everyday actions and events that are at the same time commonsensical and profound. It is clear that service in the Navy was for him, as it was for me, a major life-shaping force. Marty's insights into the virtues and follies of military life are delightful! The military bureaucratic foolishness that some of his tales highlight can be humorous or tragic, depending on the circumstances. Marty's stories about his business career offer us a picture as to how traits we all purport to hold in high esteem are still valued. Common sense, plain direct speaking, honest bargaining-all flow as virtues embedded in the pages of this book. In an age of business speculations and clever sharpsters, this book should be required reading. This book represents his views and values which reflect our hope that Metuchen, New Jersey, and America, even while experiencing the inevitable changes that the future holds for us, remain committed to the fundamental principles that Marty has shared with us in this delightful read." U.S. Marshal Lance Kincaid left the hill country of Texas in pursuit of his father's killer. He believed the killer was headed for Pinos Altos, New Mexico. During his journey, he encountered run-ins with outlaws, renegade Indians, and Comancheros. When he arrived at Fort Griffin, Texas, he was told the fort Commander's daughter, Amy, had been kidnapped and was being held for ransom. He and his partner, Hefty, were given the task of rescuing her. Enroute to Ben's Fort, he came upon the massacre of a peaceful band of Lipan Apaches he had befriended years before. Lance decided to put the search for his father's killer on hold while he tracked down the perpetrators of this crime. He found at Bent's Fort that his two searches converged. After assisting the military unit stationed at Bent's Fort with several missions, he and Hefty proceeded to Pinos Altos by way of Taos, Santa Fe, Fort Craig and Fort McRae. He and Hefty faced a number of challenges, some man-made and others of nature, while traversing the Black Range Mountains to Pinos Altos, the territory of Geronimo. With the assistance of Sheriff Roy Bean, and the elimination of Waco, Christian's hired gun, they tracked down the killer.Their final task was to bring the killer back to Texas for trial.

No other marks to this otherwise new condition book. A provocative and revealing journey of a two-step marriage uniting very different personalities. She was a Pisces while he was a Gemini, not a good combination according to an early observer. Somewhat in the tradition of Erma Bombeck, get ready for a off-beat view of home and family, the parenting of a jackrabbit child, sleep and survival, spontaneous home-buying, and the pursuit of Priscilla curtains. Discover details about the annual convention of magicians in Colon, Michigan, and the inspiration and commitment for Spanish Colonial Retablos. The dangerous world of fur coats, tundra travel, and the purchase of an 1840 pine bed provide entertaining detours along the way. Valuable guidance is provided about Guardian Angels, mortality, and preparing for the next life. Intimate glimpses of both conventional and long-distance marriage arrangements are described, with airtight suggestions for an Egyptian Affair To Remember. This is a heart-warming celebration of challenges, resilience, and the zest for life.

Little did he know that he was beginning an odyssey that would take him to fight in the Mexican War and ultimately leave him in Texas to become one of that state's most important pioneers. Amasa Clark became a freighter, a shingle-maker, and a successful farmer. He showed that fruit trees, particularly pear trees, would grow in the Central Texas climate and soil. He worked at the Alamo and hunted with the Indians before trading a yoke of oxen and a six-shooter for a farm near Bandera, Texas. This book chronicles his life in he 1800's including the War in Mexico, an attack by robbers near San Antonio, friendly and unfriendly Indians, working with the camels at Camp Verde, the difficult years of the Civil War, three marriages and nineteen children. This Texana book endeavors to give color and dimension to Amasa Clark's life by weaving his story with the history and culture of early New York and Texas. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
