Exposure to a chemical mutagen was studied in a mountainous region of Georgia where the atmosphere was contaminated with arsenic. The health of children from this region was investigated. A significant delay in physical development and an increased incidence of several diseases were found. The Yemeni flora is very rich in medicinal plants which are used to treat different diseases. In the framework of the valorization of Yemeni medicinal plants, we thought of a phyto-pharmacological study of three medicinal plants namely Tarchonanthus camphorates, Pulicaria jaubertii and Plectranthus montanus Benth. The objectives envisaged are the chemical characterization of the essential oils of the three studied plants and the study of their antibacterial and antioxidant activity. The essential oils are extracted by hydrodistillation and steam distillation. The chemical composition of the essential oils is determined by coupling gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The antibacterial activity is tested against four reference strains using the micro-dilution method on microplate. We report a study on the predictive factors of recurrence after closed technique surgery on 138 cases operated for a period of 12 years.
