Marks the three great Latin-American novellas' first appearance in published form. More important, "From Cuba With A Song" also marks the very first appearance in English of the brilliant Cuban poet and novelist Severo Sarduy in English, and remains his single most celebrated work in the Spanish original and in translation. Both Fuentes and Donoso are well-known to readers in English. Their novellas, "Holy Place" and "Hell Has No Limits", are now widely regarded as Modernist classics. To this day, however - and after his untimely demise (from AIDS) - Sarduy is not. So the publisher provides helpful information about him: "Born in Cuba, Sarduy studied at the University of Havana and was one of the few writers involved in the fight against Batista.
