In particular, the last 200 years, since the beginning of the Industrial revolution, have been much neglected. This book, while dealing in a broad way with the prehistory of brewing, and the medieval period, is more concerned with the technical changes which led the industry into its present form; most of these changes, up to the late nineteenth century, took place in Britain and so the British Brewing industry looms large in the description.
