Softcover. Condición: Very Good. LMW Works Hack Classical Hack Scenarios - Rome (VG+)Manufacturer: LMW WorksProduct Line: HackType: SoftcoverCode: LMW-1012Copyright Date: 2008Author: Philip ViveritoPage Count: 52Please review the condition and any condition notes for the exact condition of this item. All pictures are stock photos. The condition of the item you will receive is VG+. Our grading system is explained in the terms of sale section of our bookseller page. Please feel free to contact us with any questions. Product Description:This particular book deals strictly with Roman scenarios or battles from 750 B.C. to 250 A.D. A sequel book will deal with the later Roman armies; there was just too much information to convey about the Romans to have it said and done in one book and still have room for the number of scenarios we wanted to present. Classical Hack Scenarios is designed to assist ancient gamers regardless of their game system. It measures 8-1/2 inches by 11 inches with Peter Connolly's painting of "The Great Siege of Alesia" gracing the cover. The book itself is rich in diagrams and battle maps as well as informative text and especially orders of battle. The book's 52 pages also contain important vendor information-places where you can turn gold into lead if you wish. Yes, places you will want to contact in order to make those all important gaming purchases. Classical Hackers will at long last have a more packaged form of play. In addition to this are all important lists drawn from the historical commentary and the individual scenario orders of battle. Here's what you get: a brief period-by-period description with tactical diagrams of the armies in each period, and easy to set up battle situations commonly called scenarios. Each scenario gives a brief account of a specific battle, including opposing orders of battle, special tactics of both armies and victory conditions. The scenarios have been designed by some of the best known people in American Ancient's Gaming and others not so well known but no less important. All have years of gaming experience and their ideas and ideals are a worthwhile contribution to gaming and historical writing. If that's not enough there is a variant play system section (thanks to the interest shown by Grant Forsythe), up-dates to Special Tactics, a beginner's (or an experienced player who loves lists) section with army lists for the variant play and rules clarifications. In short everything you would have to figure out in order to put on an ancient battle but just don't have the time or energy to do after a hard day at work or school is provided for you.

The German troops faced a determined Allied attack that came over difficult terrain in terrible conditions of cold, rain, snow, heat and dust. The advantages lay with the defender and that made the attacks costly and time consuming. Often both sides seemed to be in a quagmire that sapped morale and destroyed equipment and devoured manpower. In the end, the Allies prevailed, but their sacrifice, valor and victory were overshadowed by the D-Day landings and the campaigns in France and Germany. This game system is fast to learn, fun to play and reflective of the realities of warfare of the Second World War. The user will not have to invest in large armies or costly terrain pieces. With a little skill and some imagination players will be able to recreate and reenact some of the most difficult kinds of combat faced by American GIâs, the Canadian Armed Services and the famous British Tommies. House to house fighting against one of the most cunning and deadly enemies of the Twentieth Century; The Nazis. Go back and visualize in miniature what our fathers and grand fathers did not often speak about, the War in Italy.

This is not just another in a series of skirmishes; this will be the climactic battle of a long campaign. Sensing the importance of the day's events, the mechanics were up all the previous night ensuring that their various steam-driven war machines were in fine fettle. Off to the General's right, one of those metal beasts coughs into life and belches rich, dark smoke. The general consults his pocket watch. "Right on time," he says absently to his aide, "Now if we could only keep the bloody things running." Battles by G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T. is based on the popular G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T. Victorian science-fiction rules, but Battles is designed to allow player to fight larger battles with several players each controlling four or more units. Both Battles and Leviathans are tightly integrated with G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T. so that Main Characters in one game can move seamlessly into the other. Game mechanics have been streamlined to allow players to control more units; however, the flavor of G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T. has been retained. Players will find the new mechanics easy to master in a short period of time.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions. Product Description:These rules are intended as a user-friendly, fast-playing, yet historical set of medieval rules. Armies are purchased using a point system, paying for units (battles) based on number of figures, armor type, and morale. Armor type also determines which basing the unit is eligible for (open, loose, close).Morale reflects both unit spirit and training, and determines melee strength (in combination with armor type) and the unit's ability to make evolutions (changes in movement and formation), as well as whether a unit becomes disordered due to combat or circumstances. Weapon type determines how many ranks can engage in combat.Commanders are also purchased with points, and modify their unit's fighting strength and morale. The death or retirement of a leader causes his subordinate units to retire as well.No army lists are provided, as the designers feel that there is insufficient historical evidence to base them on. Set-up rules allow each player to nominate eight items of terrain, then dice to see if each item is allowed, and if so, which part of the field it occupies. Two scenarios are provided: Hastings (1066) and First Lincoln (1141).

Bands of stouthearted Extras are led by Main Characters -- from the streets of London to the hills of South Africa and from the glorious charges of the Crimea to the maelstrom of the American Civil War. The rules are written with the works of Victorian science fiction authors in mind, such as Wells, Verne, and Haggard. In addition to standard colonial era actions, special rules are included for adding various science fiction elements to the plot, including, but not limited to, steam conveyances, fabulous inventions, glorious weapons, and strange creatures from the depths of the jungle or the core of the Earth. In G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T., units generally consist of ten figures led by one or more Main Characters. A player normally controls one or two units. A player may also control one or two vehicles and their crews. G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T. includes rules for creating Main Characters with somewhat more detail than the Extras. The games then are a combination of unit actions and individual heroism in the tradition of adventure novels and swashbuckling films.Command and control is accomplished through a card-based turn system. Movement is based on moving individual figures. Firing is done by figure as well, but the firing procedure is very quick. Morale is accomplished through a unique, stateless system that treats loss of cohesion in an novel way.Detailed charts are provided for creating personal weapons, heavy weapons, vehicles, and fantastic creatures. The concept used in G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T. is that of imperfect mechanization -- machines don't always work as intended. This often adds a bit of excitement and humor to the games. The authors of G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T. made the specific design choice not to build their own world for these rules. Instead the rules allow for the generation of vehicles, weapons, and creatures that allow groups of players to tailor the rules to their perception of Victorian science fiction. As a result, the rules flexible and more fun.

Product Description:Look, Sarge, No Charts: American Civil War is the second rule set to feature the Look, Sarge, No Charts rule system. It features dynamic mechanics that allow the player to fight the battle, not the rules. Players command a division or more. In these rules "realism" is gained through simple mechanics that stress the players' decision making. Do not assume, however, that this means that Look, Sarge, No Charts: ACW is a bag-full-of-dice and "sixes hit" system. Six years have gone into the systems in this book. When you play Look, Sarge, No Charts: ACW, you will be challenged and excited.

Product Description:It is now just over one hundred years since the United States entered the First World War on the side of the Allies in one of the most unnecessary and wasteful wars ever fought. What and who were responsible of the war? The simple answer is the international bureaucracies and the heads of state of all the nations involved. The cost of this war in life and material was unprecedented. The war changed the face of Europe and the United States. For the European states it began their socialist, moral and demographic demise. The war reduced the former Western Christian patriarchal societies into disordered secular chaos, where freedom was confused with equality and Christianity debased. For the United States, still not fully recovered from its own War Between the States, it transformed the nation into a world power, steered by American progressives lead by President Wilson. In any case the world was not made a better place anymore than the Great War was the war to end all warsÂ. The result was to see a century where warring states would kill more people than all the centuries that came before. This made the scandalized wars of religion pale to nothing compared to those of the secular twentieth century. However, that is not what this book is about. It is about a fascinating period worth evaluating. This book is about the First World Wars technological advances and the related tactics exemplified through a historical game system. Tanks & Yanks (Deluxe and Volume I) focus on the later part of the war, circa 1917-1918, for the miniature historical gamer. Specifically Tanks and Yanks focuses on the two last great offensives of the war -- the German Kaiserschlacht (Kaisers Battle) and the Allied Hundred Day Offensive. The War had become more fluid. The study of warfare and bloodless miniature games can be important. Respecting the misery, and honor, the horror and success of those who fought and suffered in the worst of conduct should never be forgotten. First then, this is a study of mankind in the worst of circumstances. Second it is a recreation of WW I warfare in miniature; teaching problem solving. Finally there is the pleasure of collecting and using historical miniatures. The research that it took to create this game system was extensive. Its not comprehensive in regard to the air war and ignores naval warfare altogether. This game system deals with American intervention and the technical devices of the World War; primarily tanks, Yanks, planes and tactics. The war was won with these identifiable things. This in no way diminishes the efforts and lessons of our Allies, the British, French, Italians among others. It may be debatable about the actual value of Pershing and the A.E.F. It is not debatable about the result of our intervention into the war; victory. American manpower grew and American tactics quickly developed to deal with the dramatic power of the weapons employed. Our allies guided our troops in many different ways through the war. From this guidance the Americans were able in no small way to assist the Allies in overpowering the Central Powers. The research required almost got in the way of the game system, with color, diagrams and illustrations. Consequently after many rewrites it was decided to create the Deluxe (including both Volumes I and II). Volume I is the game system and Volume II a simple note book; it did seem necessary to describe the tactical techniques in some great detail. Volu.

For hundreds of years scholars have been studying and speculating on this period of mankind's development. The Bible preserves the very core of mankind's beginning. The research on this period inspires a very heated yet somehow reverent approach to man's past. The Old Testament is a greatest epic account of man's earliest days and merits continued interest to this very day. We should remember that the Old Testament is wider just military issues and events. Our subject Warfare is just one specific area of common interest. The Old Testament is greater than just one area of study rather it is all encompassing.Holy Hack is designed to recreate in miniature individual duels, the epic battles of the Old Testament times. Only your imagination sets the parameters of the great engagements you can recreate. The system allows for heroic duels, large army engagements, naval engagements and sieges with the silver lining being a simple Divine Intervention system.

This book will provided historical gamers with a platform to put on historical battles in many different miniature scales. A historical game system for use with miniature figures in the Dark Ages. The book itself is 56 pages in length being published in a single volume measuring 8-1/2 inches by 11 inches and is profusely illustrated with diagrams, photographs and charts. Hack in the Dark was originally published in 1995 as Classical Hack III: Hack in the Dark as a multiple volume set written and designed by Philip J. Viverito, Ed Backer, and Richard Kohlbacher who hosted demonstration games under the group name The Jogglers. Today this book is a revised, updated and unabridged by Philip J. Viverito. This book is a stand alone set of rules based on it's predecessor Classical Hack III: Hack in the Dark. Most players are able to play the game without much if any help after turn three. The primary change from First Edition is the use of a D-10 system from a percentile based casualty calculation. The first part of the book describes the basics of the game in regard to unit generation, movement and shooting. The remainder of the book is designed a round the turn sequence. This takes the player basically through a typical turn describing each turn event in sequence. The end of the book contains a section on Special Add-on Tactics. There is also a general Q.R.S. or Quick Reference Sheet for playing the game. There are 39 Army Lists and four scenarios. Besides having a comprehensive Table of Contents there is an Index; which is not always found in game systems of this type.
