Amid his busy schedule and the many demands placed upon his time and energy, he has been able to sit back and reflect upon his own life and the lives of those with whom he has come in contact. Especially important to Mr. Ikeda has been his contact with young people, who have been a source of both inspiration and hope for him. In the present volume he gathers together poems he has been writing over the years and through his many travels. These are a celebration of youth and change and progress. They are a call to all men to work and strive for a better world, one of peace and love. While at times these may not immediately seem to be poems in the strictest sense of the word, they are expressions of Mr. Ikeda's deepest feelings, songs from his heart. Combining his poems with his own photographs, which reflect and deepen the message of his words, he presents here a statement of his hopes for the future of mankind. DAISAKU IKEDA was born in Tokyo in 1928. He completed his formal schooling with his graduation from junior college. At the age of nineteen he became a member of Soka Gakkai, the lay organization of the Nichiren Shoshu sect of Buddhism, and a disciple of its president Josei Toda, under whom he continued his education. In 1960 he succeeded Toda as president and in this capacity is the leader of one of the most dynamic and fastest~growing Buddhist movements in the world.

Hardcover. Condición: Very Good+. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good+. First Edition; First Printing. First Edition (1975) ; so stated. Very Good+ in Very Good+ DJ: The book shows a thin line of sunning to the bottom edges; a tiny, rather superficial ding to the bottom edge of the front panel; the binding is square and secure…; the text is clean. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of underlining, hi-lighting, notations, or marginalia. Free of ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, or labels. A handsome copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing minor, unobtrusive imperfections. Bright and clean. Corners sharp. The DJ shows mild rubbing to the corner tips and a scuff with a 1" closed tear at the top of the front hinge; else flawless; price is intact ($15.00) ; mylar-protected. Remains attractive and intact but not without flaw. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 4to (10.45 x 7.5 x 1 inches) . 215 pages. Original red laminate boards with embossed designs at the front panel and black cloth back-strip with silver titles. Introduction and Commentaries on the Plates by the author. Profusely illustrated with Photographs by Michikazu Sakai, eight of which are in color. Language: English. Weight: 32 ounces. Hardback with DJ. Two hundred twenty-one annotated plates provide an extensive survey of the age-old craft, highlighting its utilitarian and aesthetic aspects, the variety of natural materials used, and the styles of various cities and rural areas. Despite the title, this book isn't just a collection of egg wrappers, but a look at a broad range of packaging solutions. Almost all of the packages utilize materials that would now be classified as renewable, such as wood, leaves, bamboo, and other grasses, with a few ceramic vessels included in the mix. The packages are presented as art objects, resulting in a book consisting mostly of black and white gravure images with a few images printed in color gravure. Captions are placed at the end of the book. There are no instructions explaining how to construct any of the packages. Because most of the packages were devised as containers for food, this book also gives a glimpse into traditional Japanese dining. The object-quality of this book is almost as satisfying as the content. Under the attractive jacket is a book bound in pink glazed boards and a black cloth spine titled in silver. The center of the front board is embossed with a Japanese character. All printing was done in Japan on a heavy, matte paper. This book's predecessor, the beautifully-presented HOW TO WRAP 5 EGGS, has now become a classic. HOW TO WRAP FIVE MORE EGGS is essentially a revised, expanded, and simplified reprint of the first book, HOW TO WRAP 5 EGGS. ; Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; 215 pages. Illustrated by Photographs by Michikazu Sakai. (ilustrador).
