Boards have moderate edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Moderate crushing to spine ends, with splitting, fraying and loss to the head, tail and splits right down joints. Board corners are bumped with loss to paper covering.

TATTY/SHABBY COPY- leather covered boards, light cross banding gilt lines & partly rubbed gilt titles to spine, heavy wear to spine-ends with 2.5cm loss to top spine-end, 3.5 cm split to bottom front outer hinge, 5cm splits top & bottom internally, spine has some rubbing with light reading creases, boards have light rubs, light scratches and an aged patina, wear to corners which are knocked under a little with some rubbing, bottom front is worn through to card, some rubbing/wear to edges. Binding is weak & strained in many places, pages 231-234 hanging on threads, binding CRACKED though to cords at logarithm/tables section with use with several pages free or loose but all complete, page-edges at this section are chipped/creased/roughened at this section as a result. Heavy foxing to title-pages & end-papers, text generally has some foxing to some pages with some darkening /dustiness/small brown blotches throughout. Page-edges are darkened with foxing and sit unevenly due to strained binding. Appearance is of total wear, needs careful handling. However an old working copy that has probably been used aboard ship for many years, and as such is a piece of maritime history. The only copy of this book on internet at time of input.
