First Edition. An exceptional copy; fine in an equally fine dw, now mylar-sleeved. Particularly and surprisingly well-preserved; tight, bright, clean and especially sharp-cornered. Literally as new.; 189 pages; Physical desc. : 189 p. : ill. (chiefly col.) ; 24 cm. Published to accompany the exhibition, Sound Zero: Art and Music from Pop to Street Art, 9 Sept. 2006-7 Jan. 2007, at the Kunst merano arte. Subjects: Pop art --Exhibitions --Posters --Sound recordings --Album covers --Popular culture --Art, Modern --20th century. Summary: As the Velvet Underground put it, "I'll be your mirror, reflect what you are, in case you don't know. " Sound Zero opens on the Velvet Underground's work with Warhol, and follows the close, even mimetic, relationship between Pop Art and pop music through the psychedelic explosion of the 70s and the graffiti, hip-hop and skate punk of the 80s and beyond. From Pop's simple and direct communication, colorful and clean, through psychedelia's overabundance of symphonic chaos, to the remixed and appropriated work of street artists and musicians, the interrelations are clear, and clearly influential. Sound Zero tracks them in over 100 color illustrations of paintings, photographs, objects, installations, graphics, placards, video and paintings, and a parallel universe of record covers, posters and performances. It features works by Robert Rauschenberg, Raymond Pettibon, Richard Hamilton, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Chris Johanson, Barry McGee and Ari Marcopoulos; an interview with Aaron Rose; and a timeline showing developments in Pop, psychedelic and street art alongside the history of popular music. 3 Kg.

Hardcover. Condición: As New. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 95 pages. Published in 2016. Retrospective collection of portrait-photographs. One of the most beautiful writer-portraits ever published in our time. The First Hardcover Edition. Precedes and should not be confused with all other subsequent editions. Published in a small and limited first print run as a hardcover original only. A brilliant production by Curt Richter and Maarika Autio: Oversize-volume format. Pictorial hard boards with the photographic reproduction of a radiant Margaret Atwood on the cover and titles on the cover and spine, as issued. Photographs by Curt Richter. Text by the great American writer Ann Beattie. Printed in tritone on pristine-white, thick coated stock paper by Damiani in Italy to the highest standards. Without DJ, as issued. Presents Curt Richter's "Thousand Words". Or as the wise saying goes, what every great picture is worth. "Celebrates the portraiture of Helsinki-based photographer Curt Richter with portraits of writers taken at the Key West Literary Festival. Among them are Kay Ryan, William Gibson, Geoff Dyer, Calvin Trillin, Margaret Atwood, Michael Cunningham, Ann Beattie, Gore Vidal, and Edmund White" (Publisher's blurb). Born and raised in New York City, Curt Richter began taking photographs at the age of 12, much like Richard Avedon before him, whose portraiture aesthetic has unmistakably influenced him: Spare. Minimalist. Essential. Richter has received a Guggenheim Fellowship and commissions from the National Endowment For The Arts and the National Endowment for The Humanities. His work is in the Permanent Collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) New York; The National Portrait Gallery Washington, DC; the Victoria And Albert Museum London; and the Bibliotheque Nationale Paris. He moved to Finland as a Fulbright Scholar in 1997, and continues to be based there, the Key West Literary Festival being one of the projects he has avidly pursued in the United States through annual visits. The very-well-known as well as the not-so-well-known writers in this moving and brilliant collection have rarely been photographed so revealingly or beautifully. An absolute "must-have" title for Curt Richter collectors. This copy is very prominently and beautifully signed in black pen on the title page by Curt Richter. It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. It is also very prominently and beautifully signed in black pen on the same page by Cara Cannella, D. T. Max, and Edmund White. They launched the book at the one-time-only launch event in New York City. This title is a classic. As far as we know, this is the only such multi-signed copy of the First Hardcover Edition/First Printing available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. A rare signed copy thus. Lavishly illustrated with tritone plates. Some of the most brilliant writers of our time. A fine copy. ISBN 8862084781. Signed by Author.

Hardcover. Condición: As New. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 145 pages. Published in 2015. Retrospective collection of photographs. One of the most beautiful art photography books of our time. The First Edition. Precedes and should not be confused with all other subsequent editions. Published in a small and limited first print run as a softcover original only. The book is very beautifully produced: Oversize-volume volume format, Lynn Saville's photographs are supplemented with text by Geoff Dyer, the brilliant British novelist and essayist. Printed on pristine-white, thick coated stock paper by Damiani in Italy to the highest standards. The reproduction quality is outstanding in every respect. Without DJ, as issued. Presents Lynn Saville's "Dark City: Urban America At Night". Increasingly, our poet-photographer of the night par excellence, in her best collection yet. According to Arthur C. Danto, she is our Atget (rather than our Brassai) : "She prowls her city at the other end of the day, picking up pieces of the past in the present, just before it is swallowed by shadows". "Vacant spaces - shuttered storefronts, back alleys, blank billboards, empty lots - with the occasional ghostly figure hurrying through the frame. Working at twilight and dawn with a medium-format camera (setting up her tripod quickly so as not to attract police attention), Saville captured busy city streets depopulated and emptied out, industrial spaces and storefronts alike gone quiet. Color and light come from the sky, streetlights, neon signs, or surveillance lighting. Seemingly otherworldly, the images also tell a more pragmatic story of the changing urban landscape - vacancies caused by financial crisis, construction projects spurred on by economic recovery, gentrification, and development" (Publisher's blurb). An absolute "must-have" title for Lynn Saville collectors. This copy is very prominently, neatly, and beautifully signed, placed, and dated (on the day of the exhibition) in black ink-pen on the title page by the photographer: "Lynn Saville Chicago October 2nd 2015". It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. This title is a contemporary art photography classic. As far as we know, this is the only such signed, placed, and exhibition day-dated copy of the First Edition/First Printing available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. A rare signed copy thus. Lavishly illustrated with color plates. One of the finest American photographers of our time. A fine copy. ISBN 8862084110. Signed by Author.

Hardcover. Condición: Fine. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing. Signed, dated and inscribed in black ink on the title page by Kereszi, to an important figure in contemporary photography (please inquire), "For [name] - To Fantasy. 12/08." Hardcover. Photographically illustrated paper-covered boards; no dust jacket as issued. Photographs and text (in English and Italian) by Lisa Kereszi. Essay (in English and Italian) by Lynne Tillman. Includes a list of plate and a brief biography of the artist. 96 pp., with 58 four-color plates finely printed on matte paper by Grafiche Damiani, Bologna. 9-3/8 x 11-3/4 inches. Fine. From the publisher: "When Rudolph Giuliani's administration cracked down on Times Square strip clubs in the 1990s, a whole new burlesque movement was born in New York, concentrating less on the strip and more on the tease. The young New York photographer Lisa Kereszi, then an assistant to Nan Goldin, was there with her camera to catch it all happening. She began by shooting Show World, a club that was in the process of being closed down by the new laws. In her flash, Kereszi caught abandoned lockers, dressing rooms filled with old shoes and costumes and the grimy elegance of the empty theater--which was never meant to be seen by the light of day. Simultaneously, she began to photograph the new burlesque scene--which went underground in the late 1990s and has since evolved into a conceptually sophisticated, funny and rebellious medium. More pinup than porn, in just a few years, the new burlesque is no longer invisible, and has been gleefully appropriated into mainstream culture by way of Hollywood and the print media. A graduate of Yale University's MFA program, Kereszi's editorial work has appeared in books and magazines, including The New York Times Magazine, Nest, Harper's, Wallpaper and GQ; she is represented by Yancey Richardson Gallery in New York." Hardcover. Condición: As New. Estado de la sobrecubierta: As New. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 120 pages. Published in 2018. Retrospective collection of photographs. One of the most beautiful art photography books of our time. The First Hardcover Edition. Precedes and should not be confused with all other subsequent editions. Published in a small and limited first print run as a hardcover original only. A brilliant production by Adam Fuss and John Cheim: Oversize-volume format. The book is imposing in size and format. Pale gray cloth boards with black titles embossed on cover and spine, as issued. Photographs by Adam Fuss. Essay by Carter Ratcliff, the preeminent art critic. Printed on pristine-white, thick coated stock paper in Bologna, Italy to the highest standards. The reproduction quality is outstanding in every respect. In pictorial DJ with titles on the cover and spine, as issued. Presents Adam Fuss' "Water". His body of water-work, gathered in one lavishly produced volume. Unlike the sterile and lifeless art of our time, this is Conceptual art - therefore rigorous and demanding - that is nevertheless sensuous, tactile, and alive. We experience, not just see, water's near-mystical beauty. "Fuss' photographs of water are classics of contemporary photography: The swimming snakes, the splashing new-born baby, the studies of concentric circles created by water drops" (Publisher's blurb). "Breathtaking visual extravagance" (Roberta Smith). An absolute "must-have" title for Adam Fuss collectors. This copy is very boldly and beautifully signed in Aqua Blue pen-marker on the title page by Adam Fuss. It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. Adam Fuss also traced his left hand (therefore actual size) on the page. It brilliantly alludes to one of the most beautiful images in his book: "Untitled, 2015", a pair of hands touching water. This title is a great art photography book. As far as we know, this is the only such signed (with tracing of his left hand) copy of the First Hardcover Edition/First Printing available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. It is the single most beautiful signed copy we have ever seen. A rare signed copy thus. Lavishly illustrated with color plates. One of the most brilliant photographers of our time. A fine collectible copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER ADAM FUSS TITLES IN OUR CATALOG) ISBN 8862085877. Signed by Author.

Hardcover. Condición: As New. Estado de la sobrecubierta: As New. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 56 pages. Published in 2014. Artist Book. Collection of color photographs of kids. One of the most beautiful art photography books of our time. Limited Slipcased Edition of 100 numbered and signed copies. Should not be confused with the regular trade edition, which was published simultaneously with it. The Limited Edition is now rare. A brilliant production by Tierney Gearon and Editore Damiani: Oversize-volume format. Pictorial blue cloth boards with titles and design on cover and spine, as issued. Photographs and text by Tierney Gearon. Original 10 X 7 inch color print laid into its own sleeve. Red cloth slipcase with design embossed on one side. Printed on pristine-white, thick coated stock paper in Bologna, Italy by Editore Damiani to the highest standards. In glossy pictorial DJ with titles on the cover and spine, as issued. Presents, in its collectible Limited Edition format, Tierney Gearon's "Alphabet Book". Her most enchanting and triumphant creation thus far, a fantasy-inspired re-imagination of the classic children's alphabet book. "Los Angeles photographer Tierney Gearon has gained critical acclaim for her intense, colorful photographs that feature her children as subjects. Her debut in 2001 was quite controversial, when two nude photographs of her sons were included in the 'I Am A Camera' Exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery London. Her new Artist Book takes the form of a children's alphabet book: Each letter of the Roman alphabet is illustrated with a photograph that animates the letter. A is for 'Airplane Adventure', B is for 'Bear Boy', C is for 'Clown Car', and so, delightfully, on. At once an inventive photobook and an enchanting 'take' on the children's alphabet book, this volume is Gearon's most charming work to date" (Publisher's blurb). Gearon has more in common with the equally radiant and optimistic imagery of Cig Harvey than she does with Sally Mann, whose darker vision of childhood and family has been immensely influential. Gearon and Harvey, both much younger women photographers themselves, indirectly acknowledge Mann's looming presence (as it were) by moving in the exact opposite direction. Their ineffably beautiful work has been rewarded with enormous and well-deserved success. An absolute "must-have" title for Tierney Gearon collectors. This is a copy of the Limited Slipcased Edition of 200 numbered and signed copies, indicated/numbered as such on the accompanying color print. It is very prominently and beautifully signed in pink pen-marker on the title page by Tierney Gearon. It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. It comes with a 10 X 7 inch original color print that is very prominently and beautifully numbered and signed in matching pink pen-marker on verso by the artist/photographer. This title is a contemporary art photography classic. This is one of few copies of the Limited Slipcased Edition still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. Please note: Copies available online command as much as $900, or double the publisher's original list price. This is surely an accessible and lovely alternative. A rare signed copy thus. 27 color plates, 1 original color print. One of the most brilliant American photographers of our time. A flawless collectible copy.
