Paperback. Condición: Good. A collection of photographs that highlight historic Druid Hills in Atlanta, Georgia and the history behind the influential suburb.Three remarkable people were responsible for the beginnings of Atlanta's historic Druid Hills. The first was entrepreneur Joel Hurt, who having already experienced success with his rail-served development of Inman Park set his sights on a second community. With remarkable vision, Hurt hired renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted Sr. to plan his new subdivision. Druid Hills would be Olmsted's last design and also his only one in the Deep South. Hurt eventually sold the land for his subdivision to a group of wealthy and influential businessmen, headed by Coca-Cola owner Asa Griggs Candler. The men retained Olmsted as landscape architect and planner. The story of historic Druid Hills weaves the genius of America's father of landscape architecture with the acumen of the owners of the Druid Hills Corporation. With its central linear park, curvilinear streets, and an abundance of trees, Druid Hills succeeded in becoming an ideal suburb that eventually became home to the civic and business lions of Atlanta.…

Paperback. Condición: Good. The Federal Aviation Administration (FA) requires oral as well as written exams for pilot certification and flight review, and this guide teaches applicants not only what to expect on the test, but also how to exhibit subject mastery and confidence while under tough examiner scrutiny. In this test-preparation guide, the most frequently asked questions on the Airline Transport Pilot Oral Exam and their answers are provided along with sources for further study. This section may also be used as a workbook, with space provided so readers can reference their airplane operating manual to fill in the blanks to the same questions asked about the BE1900C.…

"Moore's succinct and musical prose pairs well with Ollivierre's dynamic, movement-focused illustrations to outline a rich history of the sport's growth in popularity due to the unique circumstances of the early 20th century."--Kirkus Reviews starred review A look at how Black players came to shine on the basketball court. Today, the NBA is around 74% Black but, when basketball first started to catch on, it wasn't easy for Black people to play. They couldn't enter segregated YMCAs or attend privileged colleges. So Black Americans made their own spaces, playing in dance halls before the dancing started, and eventually forming teams called the Black Fives. More than Just a Game celebrates the history of basketball from a Black perspective, revealing how it changed Black communities and how they made the sport into what it is today.
