No covers, believed as issued. 32 pages including front cover and back cover. No pages appear to be missing from the interior, although I am unsure if any are missing from the rear. OCLC d…etails for this almanac mentions 36 pages. With a woodcut illustration of the anatomy of a man's body on relation to the constellations and the zodiac. Twelve months of astronomical almanac present, along with several short articles, one relating a robbery by a highwayman (and his subsequent fate), an article on poverty, a cure for the bite of a mad dog, an article on Rachel Baker who prays in her sleep, among others. In POOR condition with heavy tattering to the extremities, folding and creasing to the corners, some ink dots to the front cover (along with a few letters in script) and a rectangular piece CUT AND MISSING from the front cover beneath the title. Pages are darkened but still readable. The almanac is still intact with no loose pages. Overall, a seemingly scarce almanac, in POOR condition. Photos available upon request. Not in Evans.

Loss of leather on front board, exposed binding. Edges of text-block speckled red (dulled). Pencil marginalia & old-hand ink marginalia on front & rear end-pages. Water or tea dampness staining found in gutters through front end-page through about page 100. Most of text-block exhibits foxing to some degree. Some instances of age-staining. Binding intact. Please see photos. Published in Philadelphia for George Wilhelm Mentz, bookseller, this is an Old and New Testament for the Pennsylvania Dutch community. Stereotyped by Jedidiah Howe (1791-1834): Brother of Abigail Hamilton (Howe) Richards, Hannah (Howe) Thomas, John Howe, Nancy (Howe) Richards, Solomon Howe, Jonah Howe, Silas Warren Howe and John Milton Howe. Howe stereotyped bibles to be published by by Mentz, Thomas Kimber, and Blakely Sharpless, all of Philadelphia. Howe died in 1834 but his stereotyped Bibles continued to be produced by Mentz. " Later editions had the title: "Getz's Forms . " George Getz (1789-1853) was also the proprietor of "The Berks and Schuylkill Journal," and served as the mayor of Reading from 1849 until his death.
