Añadir al carritoHandmade paper over boards artists' book, in raw teal silk slipcase. An extravagantly-detailed limited edition project, with art by Jane Hammond and poetry by Raphael Rubinstein. Published by Dieu Donné Papermill, Inc. in cooperation with Dieu Donne Press, Inc. and Silicon Gallery Fine Art Prints, Ltd. Founded in 1976, DieuDonné Papermill, Inc. is a non-profit artist workspace dedicated to the creation, promotion, and preservation of contemporary art using the hand papermaking process; its activities are essential in a dwindling world of papermaking. This artists' book was conceptualized by Hammond, who designed the project and created all artwork specifically for this edition. Rubinstein's poems were inspired by George Perec's Rail. In this project, Hammond responds to Rubinstein's poems with a variety of techniques, including photographed bubbles printed on polycarbonate film; collaged silhouettes on Kaji paper; digitally-scanned postcard collages printed on Somerset Radiant White Velvet paper; rubberstamping; fabrication of photo album pages; a handcolored poster; and more. Each book cover is a unique handmade paper collage created by Hammond in Dieu Donné's papermaking studio, assisted by Susan Gosin and Mina Takahashi. Additional handmade elements include the white cotton text paper and colored abaca chapter covers created at Dieu Donné Papermill. Carol Joyce bound the edition and slipcased each book in one of four colors of raw Indian silk to match the colored chapter covers (here, teal). Ruth Lingen letterpress printed by text in Avenir type. The text is letterpress printed in Avenir types by Ruth Lingen. Additional collaborators include Paul Wong and Jan Drojarski at Dieu Donné Papermill; Susan Gosin at Dieu Donné Press; and Michal Smith, Kara Crombie, and Sarah Zwerling at Silicon Gallery Fine Art Prints. Other project assistants were Gilliann Becerril, Alison Brashaw, Anna Child, Rick De Coyte, Phyllis Galembo, Aizza Gemeniano, Craig McNeer, Michael Mills, Bill Milne, Peter Muscato, Sara Parkel, John Peet, and Ingrid Staats. This is from an edition of 30 copies and 17 artists' proofs; this is no. 6 from the edition of artists' proofs, and is signed by both poet and artist. Fine.
