[ii], 32pp. Limited edition of 500 copies. 35 copies of this work were printed at Edinburgh, 4to in 1835. From a volume of Miscellaneous Poems in MAnuscript in the Library of the Faculty of Advocates, marked Jac. 5, 7, 26. The first deals with the character of Orkney, says little in its praise, and is dated 'From My caue the Otter's Hole in the third month of my banisment from Christendemo September, 1652.' The follows 'Orcadian Effigies, or The Isles of Orkney, delineated in their most especial outside; being most particularlie The Picture of Pomonia vulgarly called the Mainland, one of the said Islands.' Dated Orkney, 20th October 1652. The author, whose name is possibly J. Emerson, appears to write to some extent, if not to a large extent, from personal observation.
