Hardcover in slipcase without dust jacket as issued. Square 4to with 11 pages of tipped in chromogenic photographs. "Beale Street" was published in a signed edition of eight numbered and four lettered examples. This copy is signed by William Christenberry but not numbered or lettered. Extremely rare. The book and slipcase are in very good condition. Interior is clean and tight. Pictures available upon request. William Christenberry (1936-2016) was one of the definitive artists of contemporary American art, in content and form. He is firmly established as a contemporary American master photographer. Starting his career in abstract painting, Christenberry later became known as a photographer, and his subsequent works have incorporated printmaking, sculpture, bookmaking and assemblage, all wielded with equal confidence as their discrete forms became necessary to his vision. This is not so unusual anymore in contemporary American art. It is however notable that Christenberry, through embracing multiple mediums, merged his abstract and narrative impulses leading the way for future generations. His legacy continues to astonish with the richness and clarity of his creative voice. Brown cloth w/Dark Brown inset to spine/Gilt text. #033051 Size: Square 4to. Signed. Photography.

Its scholarship depended in particular on Pococke. "Prideaux's literary reputation rests on his 'Life of Mahomet' (1697) [. of which] the story has been told that the bookseller to whom he offered the manuscript said he 'could wish there were a little more humour in it.' No sign of humour was ever shown by Prideaux, except in his proposal (26 Nov. 1715) for a hospital in each university, to be called 'Drone Hall,' for useless fellows and students. The 'Life of Mahomet' was in fact pointed as a polemical tract against the deists. [.] Some of its errors were noted by Sale in the discourse and notes to his translation of the 'Koran,' 1734" (ibid.).
