Occasional creasing to corners; small square publisher's labels to lower margin of title; small pencil annotation to contents; minor creasing to first page of music. Carmen is recognized as one of the greatest of all 19th century operas. Composed in 1873-1874, it was first performed in Paris at the Opéra-Comique on 3 March 1875 to a libretto by H. Meilhac and L. Halévy after Mérimée under the baton of Adolphe Deloffre (1817-1876).

Written by Colonel Harvey Miller, who dedicated his life to boxing, being a boxer at a young age, later a coach and then working for the National Boxing Commission and the U.S. Olympic Boxing Committee. This work includes a 'Meet the Author' section, written by Lewis F. Atchison, presenting Miller's boxing credentials and his fifty years of experience.This particular work on boxing aims to defend the sport using statistics, facts and expert opinions. Miller wrote this book in order to present the merits of boxing, with information on medical surveys, boxing within the armed forces and overcoming fear. With photographs of previous boxers and other illustrations throughout. Rebound in black cloth, with the original wraps bound in. Externally, excellent, with light rubbing and the occasional small mark to boards. Internally, firmly bound. Light edge wear to the paper wraps and the occasional light mark. Pages bright and clean.
