[Stoddard, Charles Warren] Wm. R. (William Rounseville) Alger.
Editorial: Dateline Winston House, Mt. Kearsarge, N.H., (no date), where Alger is on vacation. Responding to Stoddard's letter asking Alger to help him get some lecturing dates on the New England lecture circuit. "I have no doubt such a lecture as you describe would be interesting and instructive, yet we have here in the Middle and Eastern states so many lectures, such a multitude of popular public entertainments of all sorts.but if you have the pluck and passion to try it, why then all I can say is God speed you and grant you a success which I cannot soberly anticipate for you." He finishes with his wish to someday visit "the Golden Coast" (California) if he lives long enough, and will count it a great pleasure to visit Stoddard there. Alger (1822, 1822

His cousin was Horatio Alger. Two conjugate leaves, three pages, paper a little toned, mounting stains on the 4th page, a blank. Very Good condition.
