Full russet Morocco, single gilt rule surround to upper and lower covers, spine gilt lettered with raised bands and gilt ruled compartments, all edges gilt, laid into a compartment in a russet cloth folding case with gilt ruled and lettered russet morocco back, together with its prospectus in a dark brown cloth folder with morocco label, Mint condition. An edition of 150 copies [54], pp 46. The Ashendene Press 'Queen's Dolls' House Book is, as is well known, the greatest rarity of this press. The original was a miniature reproduction, printed from what the bibliography of the press described as 'photographically produced blocks', made for the library of Queen Mary's dolls' house, of the press's 1903 edition of Carmina Sapphica. It is thought that fewer than ten copies were printed, and some are known to have been lost. From the prospectus: This book measures as the original 35x25mm, and is housed in an elegant quarter leather tray case. The text includes an introduction by Michael Hornby, son of the Ashendene's proprietor, explaining the history of the book. There are also brief note by the printer and publisher.
