Er ist ein wenig jünger als diese, fand aber - wie diese - seinen Ausgangspunkt beim amerikanischen abstrakten Expressionismus. Dessen irrationaler Raum und gestisch bewegte Fläche gaben ihm den Hintergrund für eine neue poetische Umdeutung der einfachen Dinge, der Werkzeuge und Utensilien der alltäglichen Umwelt. Vor diesen artifiziellen Grund gestellt, gehängt oder in ihn hineinverfügt, erhielten diese einfachen Dinge eine andersartige Qualifikation, die sie aus der ihnen gewöhnlichen Sphäre des Nützlichen und Bekannten in die des Poetischen und Unbekannten - und damit Staunenswerten und Wunderbaren - herüberholte.
