Thus, a review or survey of largely eastern, central and southern Africa in the early years of the 20th century. Divided into three Parts: Relation of the Bantu to other African Races; A Study of Bantu Life and Thought (spirits, tribal law, women and marriage, youths); and The Europeanization of Bantu Africa (discovery, government, labour, "the colour bar", church). Pull-out maps show the races of Africa and a political map of the continent, both in very good condition. Book as a whole, however, is poor: significant wear to spine, heavy bumping and wear around cover corners and edges; ex library label on front free end paper and label on front free end paper, both with a hand-written numeric reference; binding splitting at half-title page; inclined to foxing internally though text pages generally clean and tidy (not read, possibly).…

He wrote to the 'C.O. of the Regt.' regarding the 'Mess Wine' before leaving India, but will do so again. He will shortly write 'regarding the disposal of my spare coin'.
