Paperback. Condición: Good. First of this edition. Heavy illustrated wraps as issued. Quarto, 32 pages of text, cartoons, front and back. Slightly curled and browned at edges. Illustrated wraps of elves driving a two horse sleigh, is alone worth the purchase price. Widholm was a Swedish painter , illustrator, graphic artist and…well known cartoonist. His work ranged widely from political, to fashion, and this, a Swedish children's Christmas periodical featuring original renditions of trolls and elves. All of these seem to be elements of his Smalanningens Jul. This would be his last issue, as he died in April, 1953.

Designed by Gunnar Widholm, a sports cartoonist during the 1912 Stockholm Olympics who later became an international newspaper cartoonist, this poster features an image of a man skiing downhill that was also made into a bro…nze medal for the Nordic Games.The Nordic Games, organized by Swedish officer General Viktor Gustaf Balck (1844-1928; "the father of Swedish sport"), were a predecessor to the Winter Olympic Games. First held in 1901 and subsequently in 1903 and 1905, the games took place every four years until 1926. The event showcased a variety of activities, including skiing, skating, ice yachting, hockey, and horseback riding.There is some minor discoloration in the margins and along the folds.
