I am pleased to offer you a lovely little copy of the Nonesuch Press, limited, numbered edition of the: Pythian Odes, by Pindar, translated by H.T. Wade-Gery & C.M. Bowra. This small hardcover book (4 ¼ x 6 ½ inches, 165 pages) is bound in ivory colored cloth, or is it vellum, with gilt titles on the spine. It was published in London by the Nonesuch Press, dated 1928 and this is Number 1354 (of 1500 total). The book is contained in a small slipcase with flowered boards. The top edge is gilt. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The slipcase is a bit battered and in fact, missing an inch of the bottom panel but still capable of doing its task. The hard covers are clean and bright although the spine is a bit darkened with handling. The gilt of the top edge is flaking and a good percentage has been lost. Inside, there are some stains from acid and tape on the top portion of the front endpaper which also has a small former owner s address sticker on it. The interior pages are unmarked and clean and bright, from cover to cover. The rear endpaper also shows some acid staining. Both hinges are fully intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
