The…Countess was a British racehorse owner and one of the first three women to be elected as a member of the Jockey Club in December 1977. 109 photographs, drawings and diagrams, with a couple in colour. This is a thorough guide to foxhunting in North America. The author Alexander Mackay-Smith (1903-1998) served as the Master of Foxhounds of the Blue Ridge Hunt for 16 years. He also served as Director for Virginia of the Masters of Foxhounds Association and from 1952 to 1976 was editor of its official publication The Chronicle of the Horse. He is a past President of the American Foxhound Club and was the author of four of its publications. In original cloth binding with original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in excellent condition. Dust wrapper is sunned to the extremities, and particularly to the spine. Minor wear to the rear of the dust wrapper. Internally, firmly bound.
