Nachdem er kurzzeitig erster Geiger am Hoftheater in Wien war, ging er auf Empfehlung von Kaiserin Maria Theresia als Kapellmeister des Erzherzogs Ferdinand nach Mailand und 1777 nach Italien, Von da aus war er als Musikagent des Prinzen Nikolaus Esterházy tätig, zudem wurden seine Kompositionen in Esterháza von Joseph Haydn aufgeführt. Die 6 Quartette op. 2 wurden 1779 von Hummel in Berlin veröffentlicht. - The outstanding violinist, composer and music director Václav Pichl was one of the most important representatives of Bohemian music in Italy and Vienna. After being first violinist at the court theater in Vienna for a short time, he went to Milan on the recommendation of Empress Maria Theresa as Kapellmeister to Archduke Ferdinand, and then to Italy in 1777. From there he worked as music agent for Prince Nikolaus Esterházy, and his compositions were also performed in Esterháza by Joseph Haydn. The 6 Quartets op. 2 were published by Hummel in Berlin in 1779.
