'New research into hitherto highly confidential files has revealed sensational new evidence which might provide an answer to the greatest conundrum in the history of crime: the identity of Jack the Ripper. This evidence also suggests that for nearly a century, Scotland Yard has been responsible for a cover-up to conceal its incompetence at the time of the murders. On February 11, 1927, a strange old man presented himself at the gates of Britain's Broadmoor Criminal Lunatic Asylum. Astonished warders quickly hustled him inside. For this was no ordinary visitor, and his involvement in the world's most famous murder case can now be told for the first time. Presenting 30yrs. of painstaking research into the real identity of the world's most infamous serial killer.and its cover-up by the authorities. Who was the convicted killer and escaped lunatic at large in London's East End during the Whitechapel Murders of 1888? How do his alias and profession link him to the notorious first letter from 'Jack the Ripper'? What was the 'Divine Plan' he referred to before he escaped from Broadmoor Criminal Lunatic Asylum in 1888? Why did the London Police fail to catch him - although they knew who he was - and how did he remain on the run for 40yrs.? Why are 'Prisoner 1167's' government files still classified almost 60yrs. after his death and sealed until 2030? What are the similarities between his murder of his wife in 1883 and the Ripper killings in 1888? Why was Broadmoor contacted about this man immediately after the most gruesome of the Ripper murders? Why does this man, the only suspect the Home Office mentioned by name, never appear in either case records or the press? James Tully reveals what he believes to be the identity of the world's most notorious serial killer. James Kelly. Illus., Bibliog., Archival Sources, Appendices and Index. 395pp. Lge 8vo. h/back. Añadir al carritoTaschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - The Workshop on Desorption Induced by Electronic Transitions (DIET) took place May 12-14, 1982, in Williamsburg, Virginia. The meeting brought together, for the first time, most of the leading workers in the fields of electron and photon stimulated desorption from surfaces, as well as many workers in related fields, including sputtering, gas-phase photodissociation and solid-state theory. The emphasis of the workshop was on the microscopic mechanism of stimu lated desorption. Many possible mechanisms have been proposed, and a few new ones emerged at the meeting. Though no consensus was reached, many views were espoused and criticized, frequently with considerable enthusiasm. The result was an appraisal of our current understanding of DIET, and a focus on the experimental and theoretical efforts most likely to lead to new insights. This volume is an attempt to record the information exchanged in this very successful workshop and, perhaps, convey some of the excitement of the field of DIET. The book is a collection of papers written by participants in the DIET workshop, including in addition a contribution from Dietrich Menzel, who was unable to attend. Thus, this book represents a complete statement of the state of the art of experimental and theoretical studies of DIET and related phenomena. More importantly, it addresses the interesting unsolved problems, and suggests strategies for unraveling them. We acknowledge the assistance given by the other members of the organizing committee, A. E. de Vries, R. Gomer, M. L. Knotek, D. Menzel and D. P.
