Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. 1st Edition. Printed in the U.S.A. [Date from the copyright page.] Second Printing, stated. Five Sections: 'Soul Immensity in our Present Life'; 'Death and Judgment'; 'Hell'; 'Purgatory'; 'Heaven'; Footnotes, Epilogue, Index; x, 274 pages. The original dark-blue cloth has square corners and bright gilt lettering on the gently bumped spine; however, there are touches of discoloration to the rear panel and bottom edge. The interior is fresh and crisp, despite some spots on the text-block edges---but not quite completely clean, as my philosopher-father, who chaired the Columbia University Seminar on World Religion for eighteen years, left pale pencil markings on fewer than a dozen pages. There is a miniscule ink signature on the front free endpaper. The original dust jacket, with price intact ($4.75), has taken all the wear---being rubbed, chipped, and stained; however, no text is affected. [Please see my five images of the actual book.] "All vices have one root in common, namely, the disordered love of self, opposed to the love of good, and especially of the sovereign good which is God. This evil root tends to sink itself ever more deeply into the will, and from this root there is born an evil tree. The trunk of this tree is egoism, of which the central and principal branch, the continuation of the trunk, is pride, of which the lateral branches are the concupiscence of the flesh and concupiscence of the eyes." (Page 19) As with every book from my father's collection, tipped-in at the front is the small, attractive, acid-free bookplate pictured on my homepage. All books are wrapped with special care and are shipped promptly with tracking; international sales sent via global priority, also with tracking.
