A rare pre-broadcast script of Friends' iconic London wedding episodefeaturing Joey's "London, baby!" and Ross's unforgettable vow mix-up, with provenance from the set. Original second revised final draft script for the two-part Season 4 finale of Friends, episodes 23 and 24, both dated March 25, 1998. Part I is credited to Michael Borkow; Part II to Shana Goldberg-Meehan and Scott Silveri (teleplay), with story by Jill Condon and Amy Toomin. Directed by Kevin S. Bright, this pre-broadcast version captures the episode's content prior to final filming and editing, offering notable differences in dialogue and scene structure compared to the aired version. The episode follows Ross Geller's wedding in London and concludes with his now-famous wedding vow mishap: "I take thee, Rachel." The script includes extended and altered scenes not present in the televised version, such as Monica's packing routine, additional exchanges between Joey and Chandler, and material later omitted for timing. Joey Tribbiani's exuberant "London, baby!" catchphrase originates from this episode, which also marks the only multi-episode arc in Friends filmed outside the United States. First aired on May 7, 1998, the episode attracted over 31 million viewers and introduced the long-term Monica and Chandler storyline. Guest appearances include Richard Branson, Sarah Ferguson (Duchess of York), and Hugh Laurie. The front wrapper bears a printed label reading "Peter Young / Set Decorator." While Peter Young is known as a set decorator for major films such as Batman and Sleepy Hollow, no public record confirms his involvement with Friends or this episode. It is possible this copy originated from a crew member with the same name, or that the role was uncredited. Friends (19942004), created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, was one of the most commercially successful American sitcoms, with enduring global popularity. Production scripts from the series, particularly for pivotal episodes like this, were distributed in limited numbers to cast and crew and remain uncommon on the market. This script offers a tangible connection to the creative process behind a landmark show in television history. In 2024, Hansons Auctioneers sold another copy of the script for this same two-part episode for £22,000 (approx. $28,000), highlighting both the enduring cultural relevance of Friends and the strong collector interest it continues to generate. .
