He believed that anxiety and ot…her psychiatric symptoms arise in fundamental conflicts between individuals and their human environments and that personality development also takes place by a series of interactions with other people. He made substantial contributions to clinical psychiatry, especially the psychotherapy of schizophrenia, and suggested that the mental functions of schizophrenics, though impaired, are not damaged past repair and can be recovered through therapy. Possessing an extraordinary ability to communicate with schizophrenic patients, he described their behavior with clarity and insight unrivalled at that time.

Greeen cloth with gilt-on-black sp. title panel. both vols very good though Vol.2 sp. just a little dull, in grey board box with extensive edge repairs to close splitting (tear repair tape), edge rubbing a fading strip down one edge( would rate box as Good -). . Both vols have… gutter opening before t.p., vol. 2 has thin paper split to end gutter, otherwise both internally clean, tight and unmarked. Works separately paginated. Very heavy, at just over 2.8 kg. so allow for significant additional postage, for sale to UK customers only. 14 cm x 22 cm.
