First edition. 1 A first edition of The Engineer Vol. CLXX, a seven-day journal from July to December 1940.This large volume has an index to the front and is illustrated with photographs and diagrams throughout the pages. The topics discussed within the volume include Automatic Train Control, Air Force Targets in Germany, The Delaware Aqueduct and Censorship and the Engineering Press. In half calf binding. Externally, a little worn. The spine is rubbed with considerable rubbing to the head and tail of the spine. The boards are marked with the rear board being more marked and rubbed. There is a public libraries of Manchester stamp to the title page and first page of the index. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with some scattered spots to the first few pages but the rest of the pages are bright and clean. There are some water marks to the front pastedown and endpaper. Good. book.

With a portrait frontispiece, and eighteen engraved plates, two folding. Collated, complete. With individual title pages for each section. Page 192 is misnumbered 162 as called for ESTC No. T118935, this imprint has the index ending after nineteen pages. To which is added annotations to the third part, with an exact index to the whole; never before printed. Hudibras is a mock heroic poem written in the seventeenth century. It was a long narrative polemic upon the Roundheads, Puritans, Presbyterians and many more factions involved in the English Civil War. A popular satire, the work tells the story of Sir Hudibras, a Knight errant. In a contemporary full calf binding. Externally, generally smart. Title has been handwritten to the spine. Small loss to the tail of front joint, which is rubbed. Patches of rubbing to the work, heaviest to the raised bands and joints. Head of spine is lifting. Evidence of library label removal to the tail of spine. Front hinge is strained but firm. Internally, binding is strained, but remains firm. Most heavily strained between pages 48-49 and pages 96-97. Page 192 is misnumbered 162 as called for. Closed tear to the large folding plate at page 157, this tear is to the gutter and does not affect the image, which is slightly creased. Pages are bright with just the odd spots. Good. book.

Condición: Good. This important collection includes a Channukah concert, and the Jubilee Concert 1936-1946. This has a photo of the orchestra, with Maestro Toscanini, and in 1946 with Maesto Molinari. The committee is listed, and includes Einstein, Ben Gurion, Weizmann et al. Venues include The Ohel Theatre, Palestine Workers'Theatre, Mozarteum, Tel Aviv. All are printed on poor quality, flimsy paper. Some tickets are included. They are browned, but generally in good and intact condition. The programs include 1 from 1937, 1 from 1939, and 5 from 1940. Others are dated 1941 to 1947, with 5 we are unable to date because none of us reads Hebrew. There are 3 or 4 ballet and opera programs, the rest are orchestral. There are 43 in total. I'm sure you'll understand that we would not be able to break up this historic collection. 40 +programmes.
