Original Brown Buckram Hardbac. Condición: Good Plus. John S. Fraser Ilustrador. First Edition. 1888. First edition. viii, 217pp. a frontispiece and 15 other black and white plates. The author writes in his preface to this work that the primary cause of writing these sketches is to be found in his ardent love for the pastoral side of life. From boyhood he has had a deep-rooted admiration for the fields and woods, the sea-shore and the waters of the earth. A few of the fifteen sketches are titled: Before Spring; Bits in SApril; On the Raod; Nature's Children; Time Thrums; My Garden in the Fall; and Footprints in the Snow. The book is bound in the original brown buckram covered bevelled boards with gold titling on the front board and spine. The case of the book is in good to very good condition with shelf wear and some soiling and staining on the boards. The corners are lightly bumped with wear to the cloth on the corner tips. The spine ends are more heavily bumped with a little damage and loss to the cloth. The contents are tight and clean with some browning and foxing to the endpapers. There is also a little foxing on the half-title page and frontispiece. A lengthy inscription has been written on the front free endpaper. PLEASE NOTE: Heavyish book so a little extra may be needed for shipping to non-UK customers.
