Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: new. Paperback. A memoir by a member of the Incredible String Band that charts a journey from hippie utopia to post-Woodstock implosion.A memoir by a member of the Incredible String Band that charts a journey from hippie utopia to post-Woodstock implosion.Between 1967 and 1971 Rose Simpson lived with the Incredible String Band (Mike Heron, Robin Williamson and Licorice McKechnie), morphing from English student to West Coast hippie and, finally, bassist in leathers. The band's image adorned psychedelic posters and its music was the theme song for an alternative lifestyle.Rose and partner Mike Heron believed in, and lived, a naive vision of utopia in Scotland. But they were also a band on tour, enjoying the thrills of that life. They were at the center of "Swinging London" and at the Chelsea Hotel with Andy Warhol's superstars. They shared stages with rock idols and played at Woodstock in 1969. Rose and fellow ISB member Licorice were hippie pin-ups, while Heron and Robin Williamson the seers and prophets of a new world.Through a haze of incense and marijuana, they played out their Arcadian dreams on stages brilliant with the colors of clothes, light-shows, rugs, cushions, and exotic instruments. Like most utopias, the ISB's imploded. Never seeing herself as a professional musician, Rose retained an outsider's detachment even while living the life of a hippie chick. Her memoir gives a voice to those flower-wreathed girls whose photographs have become symbols of the psychedelic sixties. Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: new. Boynton, Eleanor Rose Ilustrador. Paperback. "From Fay's methodology, I learned to use my intuition and lived experiences in myriad new ways." --Winston Duke, actor, Black Panther, Avengers, Us, and Nine DaysEngaging Mind and Body to Develop the Complete Physical Nature of CharactersActors are shape-shifters, requiring the tools to wade into unfamiliar waters and back out again. The Lucid Body offers a holistic, somatic approach to embodying character from the inside-out and, for the non-actor, offers a way to give hidden parts of the self their full expression. By identifying stagnant movement patterns, this process expands one's emotional and physical range and enables the creation of characters from all walks of life--however cruel, desolate, or jolly. Rooted in the exploration of the seven chakra energy centers, The Lucid Body reveals how each body holds the possibility of every human condition. Readers will learn how to:Practice a non-judgmental approach to the journey of self-awarenessBreak up stagnant and restrictive patterns of thought and movementAllow an audible exhale to be the key to unlocking the breathDevelop a mindset to "hear" one's inner bodyAnalyze the human condition through the psycho-physical lens of the chakrasExperience the safety of coming back to a neutral bodyAcquire a sense of clarity and calm in one's everyday life A step-by-step program guides the actor through the phases of self-awareness that expand emotional and physical range not only on stage, but also in daily life. This new edition includes a more diversified range of playwrights, non-binary language, and new chapters on stage intimacy protocol and physical listening. Exercises that have been honed for the past ten years have been made more concise. New somatic and neuro-scientific data has been added, with additional wisdom and insights from colleagues and Simpson's team of Lucid Body teachers. "From Fay's methodology, I learned to use my intuition and lived experiences in myriad new ways." --Winston Duke, actor, Black Panther , Avengers , Us , and Nine Days Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.
