Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. Jacket has light wear, binding sound, light foxing to endpages, internally clean. From the jacket blurb: "Conspiracy and intrigue surround this account of an actual World War II incident. The scene is Holland in the twilight of theThird Reich. In preparation for Hitl er's last attempt to achieve a military victory, or a negotiated peace, two young German corporals are sent behind enemy lines to chart the bearing strength of the soil for the Panzer's path to Antwerp, the seaport vital to Eisenhower. Frantic attempts to save the two young men by their Canadian friends fail. The incident raises important and timely questions on the ethics and behavior of political and military structures. New evidence suggests Allied complicity with the Germans in anticipation of Russian aggression in Europe immediately after the war. Were David and Max sacrificia l sheep in the covert dealings of once hostile governments? Institutional face-saving adds unexpected dimensions to the bizarre and provoking drama of two human pawns, 'David and Max'." The author has fictionalized some of the names and characters where he felt , in fairness, he did not have all the facts bearing on their participation.…
