Gertrude Margaret Shields was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1890. She attended Indiana University, the University of Chicago, and Columbia University. She worked mainly as an advertising writer but also wrote stories for popular magazines. She published a single novel, Caste Three, NY, The Century Company, 1918. She died in 1950.
