Hardback quarto, no jacket asissued, very good plus condition, burgundy cloth cover, black & white photos (including frontispiece), foldout map inside rear cover, typewritten text, endpapers minimally toned & foxed, minor edgewear. 320 pp. In 1940, Lauri Sheard accompanied Charles Mountford as his assistant on an Adelaide University Field Expedition to Ernabella, the Musgraves, Mann Ranges, Ayers Rock and Mt Olga. Sheard died shortly afterwards during the war in an aircrash in New Guinea. This book reproduces Sheard's diary of his trip, which is held among the Charles P. Mountford material in the State Library of South Australia.

Cloth slightly flecked and marked, and lightly rubbed and bumped at the extremities; new endpapers; the map was detached at one time, and is now a little foxed and creased, with three small tape-stains at one end, and the author's name written in ink in the margin at the other end; trifling signs of age and use; a very good copy.
